Im aware of all of that, but one city is Seattle and one is Oklahoma City. ;) Seriously though, huge difference in media market etc. The league is dumb, IMO, going into smaller markets like OKC, Memphis, New Orleans. OKC draws well because it was new to them and now the are a good team. Give them a bad team and I bet they draw 12k a night.

The one thing with OKC is they are the only pro game in town. Â Seattle was splitting their market 3 ways. Â Much bigger market but all of those teams are going after the same corporate dollars. Â That being said, if they can get a new arena up, I don't think it will be long for the NBA to return (maybe the Kings) or the NHL may end up there.

There seems to be a set of people in Seattle that were into the NBA and a large proportion that couldn't tell you the team's name. Â With the cost of NBA tickets in these large cities, that set was destined to get bigger still. Â If OKC can out number the hard core Sonics fans, then they should get the team.Greg S wrote:the1wags wrote:Im aware of all of that, but one city is Seattle and one is Oklahoma City. ;) Seriously though, huge difference in media market etc. The league is dumb, IMO, going into smaller markets like OKC, Memphis, New Orleans. Glad to see them do so well.
They are the Bay Area's team and are moving back to a new arena in San Francisco (where they played in 60's to the early 70's). Â I think it's supposed to open for the 2017-2018 season. Â Supposed to be near the Bay Bridge.Linkin5 wrote:Seattle will get another team it's only a matter of time. I'm still confused how Oakland has Golden State, easily the worst pro team out of any sports.

Biff's sports almanac says no. When Kansas City, Pittsburgh, or Seattle get a team, then we can start laughing about the thought of Omaha getting a team. Throw St. Louis on that list, too.

Re: NBA
Korver's record now stands at 107.
BTW he recently passed up Dirk Nowitzki for the # 23 Career 3-point Scoring Leader.
Of the top 50, only #11 Steve Nash (.428) has a better shooting percentage than him (.422)

Dana Altman was at the game according to ESPN, too bad he had to see the game where the streak ended.

Re: NBA
I really hope Omaha gets the Bulls exhibition game next year. We need to show Iowa how its done. Des Moines just had Denver vs. Golden State last night (11,105 attendance) and Cedar Rapids has Minnesota vs. Milwaukee tonight (probably close to a sell out but the arena only holds less than 7,000 for basketball) I would like to think if we can land the Bulls next year, the Centurylink should have close to 14-15,000 especially with McDermott being on the team along with Derrick Rose and all the other stars the Bulls have.

Just looking at NBA all-time scorers and realized that Kobe Bryant is 140 pts short of passing Michael Jordan for 3rd all-time. At his current avg this year, that will probably happen within the next 2 weeks (5-6 games).

The Sixers lost to San Antonio last night and fell to 0-17 on the season. That is the second worst start in the NBA (New Jersey Nets 2009-10, 0-18) The Sixers could tie the record Wed night @ Minnesota and could break it on Friday vs Oklahoma City.

Derrick Rose is out again, this time with a right knee meniscus tear. No timetable for his return, but there is a possibility that he could return this season. Being a huge Bulls' fan, I hate hearing the news.

'A forgotten team':
South Omaha Museum reminisces on years Omaha had NBA team
The South Omaha Museum opened a new exhibit exploring the years Omaha had its own NBA team. The Once We Were Kings exhibit will be open until Feb. 24. It's filled with memorabilia of the Kansas City Omaha Kings. They played in Nebraska from 1972 until 1975. "It's almost like a forgotten team. I don't think anybody's ever done an exhibit on it. They've done news stories on it, but not on exhibit. So, over the years, I've collected all this. Omaha, Kansas City Kings that nobody else really wanted. But I collected it. And so, I put it into a collection. And I hope one day to be able to exhibit it to the public in Omaha," said museum curator Gary Kastrick. The museum is located in the Center Mall near 42nd and Center streets.
