Husker Baseball 2013
A little over 2 months until Baseball season starts. Â Erstad put together one of the best non-conference schedules in the Nation this year. Â While some said it could not be done and that "nobody" would want to play Nebraska anymore because of the move to the Big 10..... it only took Erstad two years to put together a great schedule with the likes of Fullerton, Texas, and Arkansas as the big names. Â If Nebraska fails to win the Big 10 this should put them in the position for an at-large. Â Nebraska will once again be able to hit the ball this year but the year will hinge on the pitching staff. Â In Silva's second year I expect to see some major improvements from the staff. Â Erstad and company are still in the process of upgrading the talent level of the program....and they have had zero problem doing so. Â The staff has been on a tear on the recruiting trail locking down the best players in the state and some of the best recruits in the region. Â

Tough start on the road coming home to Lincoln with 0 wins to start the season. The Huskers got their first win on Saturday with the Home opener over New Mexico. Here are a few pictures I took.

From what I have been hearing, if Nebraska had been .500 (one more win) NU would have made the Regionals...
With that said, Coach Erstad will still book a non-conference schedule like this year's.
Should a 'northern' school have such a schedule like this against teams that have an earlier weather start?

I am sure with one more win to be at or better than .500 they would have been in. Â Everything else had them in and mostly likly would have been a three seed if not they were closer to a two than a four in the four team regionals.
I understand some people not liking the schedualing that DE did but I like it. Â There were plenty of games that we let get away. Â It was not just the end of the season where we needed one more. Â Any game or three along the way would ahve made the diffforence. Â Watching this team and attending most home games I see a team grwoing up again like they did 10 or so years ago. Â THe deck is stacked difforent now in the Big 10 but I beleive they will get it done.
