Omaha Storm Chasers wrote:Anchoring the starting rotation for the Storm Chasers will be 2012 All-Pacific Coast League Starting Pitcher Ryan Verdugo, who led Omaha in wins (12), games started (24) and innings pitched (136.2), while being the only Chasers pitcher to top 100 strikeouts last season. Returning players from 2012 joining Verdugo on the pitching staff will be Nate Adcock, Francisley Bueno, Chris Dwyer, Donnie Joseph, Michael Mariot, Justin Marks, Will Smith and Everett Teaford.

Headlining the 13 position players will be 2011 Omaha Storm Chasers Player of the Year Johnny Giavotella, the Chasers' career triples leader David Lough and World Baseball Classic finalist Irving Falu (Puerto Rico), who have combined to played more than 1,000 games for Omaha in the last four seasons. Along with these recent standouts, Omaha will welcome back catchers Adam Moore and Max Ramirez, infielders Christian Colon and Anthony Seratelli, and outfielder Paulo Orlando.

Six pitchers will make their Storm Chasers debut in 2013, with one originally drafted by the Royals and the remaining five joining the organization during the offseason as free agent signings. Buddy Baumann will make his Triple-A debut while Blaine Boyer, Anthony Ortega, Brian Sanches and Atahualpa Severino have all spent time in the Major Leagues. Sanches rejoins the Royals organization after he was originally drafted by Kansas City in 1999 and traded in 2003 to San Diego for Rondell White.

Appearing at Werner Park for the first time as Storm Chasers this season will be two Major League veterans and three players with significant Triple-A experience. Xavier Nady and Willy Taveras join Omaha with a combined 1,609 Major League games played in their careers. Infielders Chad Tracy and Brandon Wood both played in more than 100 games last season in the PCL with Colorado Springs. Outfielder Luis Durango spent 2012 in the International League, and has previously played for Portland/Tucson and Oklahoma City

No, just on the first base side.

While it would be nice on the third base side it is not as crtical because of where the main board is.  before this was added sitting on the third base side was like watching a ping pong game if you use the score board to track balls and strikes.

Fron the first base side it is not the same effect with the big board being in left center.

I figured it was more for people in left field.  On the Berm, The Downdraught Bar, and that Dugout Suite.

Ya but it helps a LOT when sitting on the third base side .  Sat there On Fri and Sun this weekend and it was great.  Never felt it was needed when I have sat on the first base side

The Royals are back at .500 after beating Cleveland today, while the Storm Chasers are now 8 under after a loss to Iowa, not having to leave Omaha during the CWS, recently going 4-11.

It's been a crazy year in KC.  Great start, then a horrible stretch in June including breaking a franchise record for consecutive home losses, followed by the best record (so far) in all of MLB for the month of June.

Looking forward to seeing Ventura pitch at Werner.  I saw him throw an inning last year in KC at the Future's Game.

In support of the May tornados that hit Oklahoma, YOUR Omaha Storm Chasers are wearing "We Support Oklahoma" jerseys in Oklahoma City on Saturday, June 22nd. The Oklahoma City RedHawks will be wearing "We Are Oklahoma" on the same evening. Both teams will again wear their Oklahoma jerseys Werner Park (Sarpy County, Nebraska) on Thursday, July 25th. At that time, the "We Support Oklahoma" jerseys will be auctioned off to Storm Chasers fans. Also participating in the "We Support Oklahoma" and "We Are Oklahoma" jersey auctions are the San Antonio Missions Baseball Club and the Tulsa Drillers Baseball. This is Minor League Baseball at its finest.

Other than the big fourth of July fireworks night, the only time you really had the big attendance nights at the 'blatt it was because of some massive ticket give away.  Where the attendance is really better at Werner is that they pull in good crowds pretty much every game.  You don't have those games where the actual attendance is 1k or less in a 24,000 seat stadium.

Johnny Giavotella embraces latest opportunity
Kansas City Star wrote:The Royals recalled Giavotella, 25, from Class AAA Omaha after Saturday’s 6-2 loss to Minnesota. They cleared roster space by designating outfielder Jeff Francoeur for assignment in a corresponding move.

Giavotella went immediately into the lineup. He batted ninth in Sunday’s series finale against the Twins at Target Field.
Giavotella singled in a run for his first at bat for KC today.

Went to the game last night.  Manny Ramirez hit a very long go-ahead home run that landed on the walkway near the scoreboard in left field in the top of the 9th inning. Here a few pics:

The games with attendance less than 1k at Rosenblatt were few and far between; the Royals consistently pulled in over 300,000 per season for over 20 straight years - season averages ran 4500-5500 or thereabouts.  One big night of fireworks only boosted average season attendance by a few hundred.  Kudos to the team for the continued success in their present location.

Omaha went 18-10 in July so they look to be turning things around.

Here's the story:
http://www.kansascity.com/2013/08/06/43 ... tains.html
CHRISTINE VENDEL, The Kansas City Star wrote:Police took custody of the woman and handcuffed her, but she didn’t cooperate with them either. She pulled one hand free and escaped briefly. She tore much of the skin off her hand to get the handcuffs off, police said.

She then allegedly offered a sex act to an officer in exchange for not being arrested, police said.

Jessica McCoy of Des Moines, Iowa, was cited for trespassing, resisting arrest and solicitation. She spent the night in jail but was released Tuesday morning.
