I will always be an eternal optimist with the Huskers and I understand the youth and really you won't find to many bigger Husker nerds than myself.. but what I can honestly say that has been present through nearly the entire Pelini era is that no matter how big of a game it just seems like our team can never get fired up and have that killer instinct for all four quarters like we all remember.. Having a fired up team with killer instinct isn't something you have to learn.. it should be natural to these guys playing for the Huskers..
I think this is still a great season and even last Sat night I was trying to talk sense into my doom and gloom friends so I already agree with everything you've said.. good posts btw..

How the heck did I miss those uniforms? I like 'emCoyote wrote:Nebraska will be 4.5 point favorites for the game against UCLA, mainly because they will be wearing those intimidating black uniforms.

Well.. while currently being the forums biggest Husker believer.. I will admit that I was flat wrong but that I don't think it has everything to do with the players.. I think our coaching is in over their heads and that they have no real way of redeeming this.. When they show the coaches on the sidelines and they have the deer in the headlights look on their faces how is that suppose to inspire confidence to our players they are coaching?
Anyways at this point in time I fully support Bo cleaning house.. going out and finding a real OC and DC and stop hiring his buddies and expecting his coaching staff to be world beaters..
Major Disappointment today

Pelini was good without a track-record. Now, his opponents know him better than he knows himself.guitarguy wrote:Well.. while currently being the forums biggest Husker believer.. If I have to hear it one more time how Bo is a defensive guru I'm going to his scheme was impressive when our defense was loaded with starting NFL talent but without that talent level its pretty obvious its not working.. and on top of that yes.. He has enough of his defense on film now for opposing coaches to not even have to worry about what he's scheming.. a bad situation indeed..

I watched the "highlights". Â Around here its all about Michigan almost losing on the last play of their game. Â I'm relieved because otherwise I would have heard how "preseason Nebraska was going to play Michigan with both undefeated". Â Bo never seems to be able to admit that even part of the loss is his fault. Â Tom Osborne had his share of losses but you could see the possibility. Â This season there is a HUGE banner over the stadium that says HEY BO! Â THERE IS MORE TO EXECUTION THAN SAYING AFTER THE GAME THAT THE TEAM DIDN'T EXECUTE! Â TRUMP CALLED. Â YOU'RE FIRED!
After watching the press conference yesterday its disheartening to see a coach who didn't even seemed phased by the fact that the team that was hyped up as being the best team in the Pelini era.. got totally dominated after what seemed to be a dysfunctional coaching staff couldn't figure out where to begin to make changes in the game.
We began to see these exact same press conferences from Clownahan when he knew things looked bleak.. So to hear the same from Pelini is a slap in the face of the fans.. I know when people are feeding me BS and hearing 'Well.. we would have won the game if we executed better' doesn't really fly anymore since Pelini is paid millions to put a team on the field that can execute at the basic level for 4 quarters.. I can't even remember the last time we saw a Pelini team play hard for an entire game..

I have no doubt Pelini is a damn good coach, but for whatever reason, his teams seem to have plateaued at Nebraska. I think it correct in saying that his "System" works well, with 4 and 5 star athletes, but he's having difficulty keeping the kids' heads in the games when they are down.
And Martinez... is he hurt? He looks terrible

Martinez' non throwing shoulder was hurt during the So. Miss. game, and he was wearing a boot after the UCLA game. They were seriously warming up Armstrong at one point in the UCLA game, but I never saw him get close to Pelini.S33 wrote:I have no doubt Pelini is a darn good coach, but for whatever reason, his teams seem to have plateaued at Nebraska. You not only need athletes for Pelini's schemes, but they need to read the offense and adjust their assignments accordingly. I don't know who does this on the line or what backer is the 'QB' for this, it certainly can't be Banderas, but there is a lot of inexperienced kids playing important positions on D. Pelini said he was not worried after the Wyoming game, it was just the kids execution of what they read, and that he was willing to accept mistakes so long as they were 'good' mistakes... They have no pass rush, No Suh or Crick to put pressure on the QB which leaves the secondary on their own islands and if the QB can easily read our coverage...
Gregory seemed to be getting to Hundley pretty well, in the first half. Honestly, I'm thinking there is a conditioning issue, as well. The team wasn't simply being exploited by Jim Mora's adjustments, after all, it would seem that all the so-called "experts" are claiming that UCLA didn't really adjust all that much coming into second half, the Huskers just folded; didn't even put up a fight.

Perlman disappointed; officials considering what to do with Pelini
Journal STar wrote:Reached by the Journal Star Monday night, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman said, "We'll have a comment out, but basically I'm very disappointed and we're considering what to do and what the impact is on our program."
Asked if it was a firable offense, Perlman said "I'm not going to comment on that." Perlman said he had not yet talked to Pelini about the incident.

Pelini admits to offensive Nebraska rant
KETV wrote:After the audio went viral Monday, Pelini released the following statement:"I want to sincerely apologize for my comments from two years ago which became public today. Â I take full responsibility for these comments. Â They were spoken in a private room following the Ohio State game. Â I was venting following a series of emotional events which led to this moment. Â That being said, these comments are in no way indicative of my true feelings. Â I love it here in Nebraska and feel fortunate to be associated with such a great University and fan base. Â I again apologize to anyone whom I have offended," Pelini said.
