2013 CWS at TD Ameritrade

Post by nebugeater »

Starting to see some info about the 2013 version of the CWS and it will not be long until the field of teams comes into focus.

One big thing that I just saw is the game start time.  Going back to a 2PM and 7PM start time.   Much better for the people attending

http://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/artic ... rld-series
The first change centers on game times reverting back to the start times the College World Series was accustomed to the previous few years, beginning at 2 and 7 p.m. Central Time for the majority of the Series. Stadium gates will open approximately two hours before the start of the game scheduled for each day.
Another change involves the use of instant replay for umpires to review specific calls on batted balls that land near the outfield foul lines. This is an expansion on the rule introduced last year that allows umpires to review whether an apparent home run is fair or foul; deciding if a batted ball left the playing field for a home run or a ground-rule double; and spectator-interference plays involving home run balls.

Look at this little hidden gem!
CWS fans with Club Level tickets will have expanded food and beverage options this year, including the availability of beer and wine, which is consistent with other NCAA championships that take place in a venue with these facilities. The beer and wine will remain in the Club Lounge area, so fans will not be allowed to take alcoholic beverages to their seats.

I thought that was the suites? Can't anyone just buy a club ticket day of game?

Both 2011 and 2012 there was alcohol in the Suites but not on the club level.  They didn't really hide the fact there was alcohole in the suites either.  You could see the workers taking empites out of the suites when you walked by.
iamjacobm wrote:Weren't people in the club level allowed to "carry in" alcohol last year?
I never saw that.  Even when you go in the Club/Suite entrance, they still search your bags.

all that said, I am looking forward to having club seats again this year.  Added bonus with the beer!

I mistook club for suite that was my bad.  But I thought there was some stipulation for the suites that they couldn't technically buy booze during the game.  They had to prebuy whatever amount before it.  I could be completely wrong though.

The Suites don't technically pay during the game anyways.  They have a stocked fridge before the game and they get a bill in the mail for whatever they consumed...

This is the quote from an old OWH article that was putting that idea in my head.
Rebecca Kleeman, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority, said suite visitors must order their alcohol and have it delivered by concession staff in advance. No alcohol delivery or restocking will be allowed during the games, practices or press conferences.

Inside the stadium, alcohol is still off-limits to most fans — but it's OK for those in the luxury suites.
So much for equality, huh?

The only difference between that and any other event at the Ballpark and Arena is the is the no refill during the game.  They are always stocked before you get there as long as the suite owner is providing alcohol.

NCAA wrote: Changes also are occurring around the outside of the stadium where The Road to Omaha sculpture is being enhanced with new ambient lighting and background panels. “The sculpture was dedicated in 1999 in honor of Omaha’s 50th anniversary as the home of the Men’s College World Series,” noted CWS, Inc., Chairman Jack Diesing, Jr. “The sculpture was moved from its original location at Rosenblatt Stadium and rededicated at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in 2011.”

Other improvements planned prior to the start of the CWS include the installation of a 10-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side of 13th Street between Mike Fahey and Cass Streets and new cross walks at 12th, 13th and Cass Streets.
Two more needed improvements.

I was gonna say, why the heck didn't I think to bring alchohol last year, when I had club seats? And speaking of club seats, it's a waste of money. There's really no difference, you are just allowed in a room with non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Big whoop.

But now they will have beer...

I like the proximity of the Concession Stands and Restrooms to my seats up there.

This was inevitable.  With the big bar they built on the club level you knew they were going to use it for beer and such at some point for the CWS.  The Club Level is really nice.

I was there and it was PACKED!  I wouldn't be surprised if UCLA-LSU game tonight beats it either.
