The ESPN daily RPI estimate has the Husker up to 49 LOT higher than they were not that long ago. Amazing what a win of Mich St and 4 wins in a row can do.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but earlier this year we were wondering if NU could get back to back conference wins... Now...

No matter how this season ends it will be better that expected. Last night the PSU win was Conf win #4 in a row. The Huskers have not had 4 Conf wins in a row since 98/99. No matter who you are THAT IS A LONG TIME. They broke the tradition of falling flat afer a big win too. They were up by as many as 27 in the second 1/2 and they they started to get some younger players on the court..... as if most of them aren't younger! The first half was as loud as I can remeber a Husker BB game in the 15 years I have had season tickets. If they are sucesfull in getting this thing rolling, the new arena will be a force to be reconded with. As someone that has been at almost every home game the last 15 years that is as fun to watch as the team some times. The "newbies" really crack me up sometimes when taling about what the "saw" the last few years. For a team that was picked to finish last being solid #6 by themselves at this point of the year blows me away.

Yes he did. I just read that elsewhere too. He was in a lot of pain and got carried all the way off as far as you could see to the lockers without being able to put any weight on it.

The Huskers win at home over Purdue 76 - 57 Up by 27 late in the second and then a bunch of subs come in and hold on to the 19 pt victory. As I have said many time I have been to a lot of games. It is really a strange feeling to walk in to the arena at this point in the season with not only the feeling that Nebraska Should win but they will win. This team is turning into something special. It can still go ether way for the way the season ends but I am hopeful. A NET berth and a run in that tourney would not be a disappointment for me and I do not thing an NCAA slot is out of the question. Still some work to do on #2 option though but it just might happen.

Putting a good hold on the 6 spot in the conference. Closer to 3rd place in the conference than 7th.

Great game. It's a shame the selection committee doesn't factor in winning at the end of the season any longer.

I think we'll end up in the NIT but great season so far!

Agree that it will most likely be NIT but NCAA is not out of the question. For building a win or three in the NIT would be better than a one and done in the NCAA if that is how the NCAA turned out

Nebraska is now on Lunardi's next four out (after the first four out) so they are officially on the bubble. If I can find it again I'll post the rest of the season's schedules...

Schedules the rest of the way
So what I decided to do was look at Lunardi’s and Jerry Palm’s brackets and compile a list of bubble teams to track, I was quite surprised at how many schools were listed, however I made a list with RPI’s and their remaining schedules which I will track. The way I arranged them is if both Lunardi and Palm have them as in I put them above the cut line, if one has them in and one has them out then I put them below the cut line. (Updated as of Morning of 2/24/14):

Last Teams in:

Xavier (RPI #50): 2/25 @St. John’s (RPI #53), 3/1 vs. Creighton (RPI #7), 3/3 @Seton Hall (RPI #122 ), 3/6 vs. Villanova (RPI #4), BE Tournament

It will tell a lot to see how they do on the road on Wed night. If they can win this maybe then I will start to think of them as a bubble team. Untill then, I still think of the NCAA as a slight posibilty at best and hope for more.

I would almost rather see Nebraska do well in the NIT, than lose in the first round of NCAA, and get some post season experience for next year. Future is looking bright for Basketball in Lincoln, which sounds weird to say.

According to one tracker NU is a #1 seed in the NIT:

1. Nebraska
8. Texas Tech

4. Boise St
5. North Carolina St.

3. Georgetown
6. Oregon St.

2. Arkansas
7. Middle Tennessee

FF. Nebraska, Providence; Minnesota, Dayton.

Player of the Year Tracker: Petteway new No. 1
BTN wrote:With a couple weeks left in the regular season, there’s a new No. 1 in my latest Big Ten Player of the Year Tracker. That man is Nebraska’s Terran Petteway, who knocks Devyn Marble out of the top spot.

1. Terran Petteway, Nebraska – 45%, 18.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.6 apg, 0.9 spg, 0.7 blk. If people still aren’t buying Petteway as a top candidate here, well, I’m not sure what more he can do. The Big Ten’s leading scorer has poured in 29, 26 and 23 points the last three games and is averaging 22.2 during Nebraska’s five-game winning streak. Put Indiana, Michigan State or Ohio State on his jersey, and he’d be getting a lot more POY chatter.
Last week: No. 2

Wow. I did not realize he was putting up those kinds of points. Put him on a better team, and he's getting Wooden chatter. (of course, he's got a chance any other year than this year)

Horrible shooting night for the Huskers. At one point Petteway was 1-9 and the team was 0-9 on threes.
They didn't look like a team on a mission, given one bracketology site had them the last 5 in.
Unless they win out against NU, Ind and at home against Wisconsin, and take some games in the Tourney, it will be NIT.

Tough loss, but it isn't the end of the world. Hosting a game or two in the NIT is still way more than they were expected to do this year.

True. The Bracketologist I saw had NU vs St Joseph's as a play-in game, and that may be the best they could hope for. I think they could do well and get more tourney experience in the NIT, that would propel this team into next year.

Nebraska in a play in game???

I thought they only gave those extra "play in games" to schools like "Our Lady of the Giant Redwood" and "Papillion Creek Technical College"????

When they went to 68 they made it two play in games for those schools and two for the bigger programs.

Yes, for the four 16 seeds of the conference champs. But you also have the last four in, two 13/12 seeds and two 11seeds, depending on selections. Lunardi's 11-13 seed playing games are St John's vs Tennessee and Oklahoma St vs Providence.

Never understood those new play in games. Shouldn't they be the worst teams to make it? They should be the bottom 8 teams playing for the right to become a 16.

Sort of. They are the bottom 4 Automatic bids playing for two 16 seeds,
and also, the bottom 4 At-Larges play for the final 2 At-Large bid.

Plenty of ball yet to be played but it is nice to be talked about in March for Husker Basketball. My guess is an NCAA bid will all depend on how Sunday goes.
