He can't win the Big One. Not sure if this was even that big, as Wisconsin is having only a so-so year. Up until now, anyway.
Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Steve Glenn probably wishes that this coming Tuesday was election day.

Bo wins 9 games a year though. All is well.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Guess the Nebraska fans who were complaining about being snubbed or slighted by the rankings now realize the committee knows better.
The annual meltdowns against non-MAC calibre teams are interesting to watch in a "wow that's a huge trainwreck" way.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
The fair weather fans are out in full force on Facebook. As expected, they're calling for the firing of Bo. Like that will really accomplish anything. Did it ever occur to them that if Bo is fired his replacement could turn out to be another Bill Callahan? If they think they can do a better job, then perhaps they should go apply for the job as head coach or suit up themselves and get out on the field and play.
Those in search for the reincarnate of Tom Osborne are not going to find him. He's just not out there.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Never has it been more obvious than tonight that when punched in the mouth Bo does literally nothing and has no idea how to stop it.. it was games like this that led up to Callahan firing.
Re: Nebraska Football 2014
At least this loss was on the road and not at home. So that's something to be thankful for.

8-2. With Minn and @ Iowa left plus a bowl game... Another 9-4 season for Bo's defense and Beck's |expletive| up play calling?

Sweet baby jesus, not all new potential coaching hires will turn out like a Callahan. That's a ridiculous false dichotomy. You know what you have in the psychotic Bo Pelini, and it's never going to change.

The best way for Husker fans to voice their displeasure is with their cash.
Stop traveling to bowl games. Stop buying husker gear. Stop calling into Husker sports talk shows.
If NU had to eat 10,000 seats at the Toilet Bowl, the resistance to fixing this will melt.

NU drops 8 spots to #19 in the coaches poll.
Re: Nebraska Football 2014
I'm sure the Big 12 would just love to see us come crawling back, wouldn't they? At least there we could compete, but in the Big 10, we're just a big joke.

I stumbled on this on Saturday night. This dude went on an angry rant after the game. He's fed up with Bo.

it's difficult to tell with a lot of Husker fans who's being legitimately critical, or who's just an Uncle Rico type fan still stuck in 1995.

The Big 10 covers up how bad the Huskers really are.nebugeater wrote:Not sure we would sit any better in the Big 12mrsticka wrote:I'm sure the Big 12 would just love to see us come crawling back, wouldn't they? At least there we could compete, but in the Big 10, we're just a big joke.

This is perhaps one of the most hilariously stupid inane things I've seen in a little while.

1. The Huskers have devolved so much that they couldn't compete with the Big12.twiztid1 wrote:The Big 10 covers up how bad the Huskers really are.nebugeater wrote:Not sure we would sit any better in the Big 12mrsticka wrote:I'm sure the Big 12 would just love to see us come crawling back, wouldn't they? 2. The Big 10 sucks so hard in football that they don't have to make much effort to make all their football schools look better than they really are.

I'm sure there are many Husker fans who miss the glory days of 1994 and 1995. Maybe even 1997, too?jessep28 wrote:it's difficult to tell with a lot of Husker fans who's being legitimately critical, or who's just an Uncle Rico type fan still stuck in 1995.
Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Another loss. Could put a little blame on the large amount of injuries Nebraska had, but Minny's star RB also didn't finish the game from an injury.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Can't say for sure. But I do know that we are officially eliminated from the Big 10 West race. We will not be going to Indianapolis to play for the championship. That means we will go another year without a conference championship.
This was supposed to be our year when we finally got out of our slump and win a conference championship. But, no. Instead it's just going to be more than likely another 9-4 season under Bo with nothing to show for it.
Wins against little guys, losses to the big boys-That's going to be Bo's legacy at Nebraska.

Let's have a good note...Tommy Armstrong pulled a 180 from last week. He only had one bad pass that I saw.
Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Imagine if the internet had been around during the 70's and 80's when Osborne had trouble winning against Oklahoma and an inconsistent bowl game record.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Osborne to a raft of |expletive|. The OWH had sports public pulse called "Voices from the Grandstand" that would fill a page. Sports radio was as big then as now, and he took it from both. Couple of differences: it was really, the only game in town, and TO and the athletic dept made an effort to be seen as everyone's team, not just the rich people and TV people's dept.
They don't do that at all anymore. There are lots of other college teams in other sports and I can see excellence in them that reflects poorly on NU.
As an allumnus of UNL, it bugs me that they have raised prices so high. They can charge what the market will bear, but at $25-30 a game, you could put up with rebuilding year. At current cost per game, not so much.

Husker fans that care about the future, should boycott the game. In NU has to eat a large % of their ticket block, they will get on with fixing the program.mrsticka wrote:The Holiday Bowl, huh? Well, Happy Holidays.

Husker fans at bowls the last couple of years have been way down so that will not be a problem

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
Do you think that's because of increased apathy towards the coaching staff, or was it due to the lackluster/repeat destinations?nebugeater wrote:bigredmed wrote:Husker fans that care about the future, should boycott the game. Re: Nebraska Football 2014
I think both play into it. Along with those reasons I think that many fans have chosen to go to a Road B1G game to a location that they have not been to before instead of a bowl
A fourth reason is cost. It has not gotten cheaper to travel at that time of the year that's for sure. And to some extent with short notice.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
People need to skip the bowl and make it public as to why. Till there is action to improve things, we are done. Probably a better idea is to start dumping season tickets. A couple of thousand STH's dump em and do so on the record should push the question.
Re: Nebraska Football 2014
I was looking at a list of all the conference championships that Nebraska has won and between 1940 and 1963, we didn't win any at all. So this is not the first long drought.
I'll bet back then, there were some pi$$ed off and frustrated Husker fans who lost all hope of ever winning another conference title just like there are now. They probably thought the program was descending into mediocrity and that we would never again win a conference championship.

And then they got tired of it and landed some guy named Bob Devaney.

Re: Nebraska Football 2014
According to my parents, during the 50's, you could pick a seat and basically move along with the players because there were so few fans at the games. Imagine Memorial stadium with 10,000 people there on a good day. That was what the attendance was. Think NU could swing their budget with that level of support. That's were they are heading.MadMartin8 wrote:mrsticka wrote:I was looking at a list of all the conference championships that Nebraska has won and between 1940 and 1963, we didn't win any at all. Game's over. We beat Iowa 37-34 in overtime. So Bo got his 9th win.
