Post by nosracesahc »

Best places in the Omaha Metro area to Kayak?

I have been out on a majority of the Lakes (Walnut, Zorinsky, Wehrspann Standing Bear) also have Kayaked the Elkhorn River and Boxelder Creek does anyone else have hidden gems really would prefer river/creek with a little bit of a challenge!

Has anyone gone down the Papio Creek or the Big Papio Creek?

I DONT THINK IT WOULD EVER HAPPEN BUT WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOMEONE DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS

There is a YouTube video of a guy canoeing the big papio. Care should be taken as there is a roller dam or something in the big Papio by Papillion. A couple of guys were canoeing it during a high flow state and got caught in the rolling current and drowned.

For beauty, try the Niobrara. For turns, try the Dismal. I wonder if the Snake is accessible for some whitewater kayaking.
