Looking at the new poll, how in the world is Iowa ranked 25th. They had a terrible collapse last season and lost their best scorer, who arguably kept their season alive. No one else on the team stood out on a consistent basis.

They play in the Big 10.

They play in the Big 10.
Other NCAA basketball coaches are biased towards the Big 10? Not sure about that. My guess is it has to do with the talent returning.

I can see the other 5 big ten teams being ranked but the Hawkeyes played a weak schedule and still didn't finish well, and now they lost their leading scorer and only one on the team who could consistently find his own shot.

I don't think you are wrong...Iowa went to complete |expletive| mode down the stretch. But who would you put in front of them out of the additional teams getting votes?

Probably New Mexico or Oregon. Either way, like Greg McDermott said last year, preseason rankings mean absolutely nothing, they are even worse than reg season polls. The rankings just change so much.

The Big 10 is arguably the best conference in the country, by proxy, Iowa benefits from that. You see it in football with the SEC.

There is no weird coaches conspiracy against the Big 10.... the coaches (judging from the polls) recognize the Big 10 as what it is, one of the best conferences.

What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time, CU with McDermott coming back and the move to the Big East was the talk of the town. Sunday's basketball preview in OWH totally spot lighted Husker basketball. You had to go deep inside to get to the info on the Jays.

Yeah I understand why there is more hype surrounding NE basketball this year, but Creighton is more of Omaha's team. I couldn't believe that the info on the Jays was on pg 5 or 6. That is absolutely ridiculous. Creighton still has a much strong season ticket base. I wish NU well, but hope this isn't a year when the "newspaper in town" forgets about the Jays.

It's to be expected. Nebraska will have a decent team this year, Creighton is rebuilding...thus the hype machine goes to the west a bit this year. It's probably going to circle like that going forward, which is exciting for the state.

I forgot about Andrew White the transfer from KU. A very good group for Coach Miles.

Nice start to the season for NU. Going to be interesting this year that they will not be able to surprise anyone. Definitely a different role for Tim Miles and NU.

Don't know a lot about the competition yesterday but I have been a a lot of first games of the season for the Husker Men's BB over the years. This game had a much better first game feel and didn't have that " lets toss something out there to see what will work."

It will be interesting to see how the senior transfer (Georgetown) with one year Moses Abraham fits in. Looks like he can have a presenses but even in this game he was an easy foul and there could have been more called IMO with his limited minutes.

Yeah they need him with Smith being injured for most of the first part of the year.

I think Nebraska will have their hands full with UNO this week. I wish the Jays were playing UNO as well. It'd be fun to have all three D1 teams play each other each year.

Ouch that hurts NE in the early season rankings, although they don't mean much, they will surely drop from the top 25.

Will be interesting to see how Petteway looks tonight. They could use him at full speed for UNO.

Should be a good atmosphere for Sunday's game in Lincoln. Tickets going for several times face value.

I have not been able to find anything official. Some on huskermax speculate that it will happen but nothing for sure. there is also an attempt to get the faces to do #nositsunday. That would be kind of cool. Probably. It at the level it worked at the Wis game last year but it would sure get the place rocking

I will be at the game si then it will be official and I will let you know.

Definitely introducing Riley at halftime, Coach Miles has been tweeting at Jaysker's if they are changing into Red for halftime. Very funny.

At the expense of sounding like a girly I am a season ticket holder and was told by somebody reliable he would be introduced. Whether that's true or not I don't know.

Whoops!

Incarnate Wood sounds like a porn star.

There was a twitter post that went something like "Nebraska Basketball just lost to Microsoft Word or something".

That will be a bad loss. With Smith and Moses both out NU is really hurting inside. Good be a long month or so until they start getting those guys back.

Wow. I can't believe they lost that game. I watched the last 2-3 min on ESPN3 and they looked horrible. Fouling the 3pt shooter twice, throwing away an inbounds pass and giving up a game winning shot. Thankfully for Creighton's sake, the Huskers will probably win a few more big games before the season is done, otherwise this loss would hurt Creighton's rpi a little.

Crazy thing, right now, Incarnate Word is 41 on ESPN, higher than Creighton or NU. Won't be there at the end of the season but wow.

From Shatel's column today, Cincy's Coach said PBA is 2nd only to Louisville's home court in college basketball.

Nebraska if all goes well could play Wichita State in the semi finals in Hawaii. I watched them take down Alabama last night with a crazy comeback at home. Dickie V was in the house.

Going forward would love to have NU schedule Wichita State regularly.

That's a great win for Cincy coming off a tough double OT loss at Nebraska. Helps the Huskers too.
