Interesting.... Wonder if Fox is picking up NET's feed on those two games?

Amazing start for the Mavs. All of these non conference wins will help get the tourney big this year.

Interesting, ASU is adding a hockey team. Future UNO opponent? MavPuck has them rumored to be joining the NCHC.

The Huskers can't handle what they have. No room in Title 9 for hockey. The Mavs get to have that all to themselves.

You will see several more D1 programs spring up over the next 10 years. Sounds like Arizona will be next, they've already got a place to play that seats 7k. Oregon would not surprise me either. Tons of money flowing into Pac 12 schools.

The Big 10 is not stopping at 6 teams either. In a couple years the Big 10 is poised to sign the richest contracts in NCAA history (the commissioner of the SEC even admitted this saying he wished it was his conference that would be the last to renew). Nebraska is on record with Eichorst saying now D1 hockey for NU. They will deny it right up until they announce. I think we are probably 10 years away from that. There will be other Big 10 schools that add it first. There will be more Big 10 channels or regional ones that will need programming.

Title 9 is over rated as inhibiting growth for hockey. For the northern schools, they will add women's simultaneously.

If you can swing the cost of both teams, you will do it. NU is the kind of AD that will do exactly as you outlined and then use their media power to memory hole everything they said in the other direction.

Sadly, the Mavs lost 3-2. Still, played the number 2 team on the road and got a point on Friday. Hopefully, more good news ahead.

Mavs looked real good this weekend. Skated with the Sioux stride for stride. Honestly, this might be the best team the school's ever had, amazing considering how young they are.

Considering how bad they looked at the exhibition game, I am pleasantly surprised at how well they have gelled as a team. Really happy about the past two seasons and this year in terms of being able to skate with anyone and be in the hunt. Very happy with the program right now.

Totally agree. I was very concerned after the exhibition game (and first few minutes of the home game the following Friday).

I thought that you only got points based on the score at end of regulation and that shootouts didn't count (tie = 1 point). Was I wrong, or did the rules change?

Nope, shoot out winner gets 2, other team gets 1.
NCHC wrote:Each conference game will be worth three points. Three points will be awarded to any team that wins a game in regulation or within the five-minute sudden-death overtime period. One point will be awarded to each team in a game that remains tied at the conclusion of the overtime period. One additional point will be awarded to the team who wins the shootout, giving that team two points total for winning the game in a shootout. A team that loses in regulation or during the five-minute overtime period will receive zero points.

After the formation of the NCHC, they were invited to join the WCHA. There is talk of another school in that area starting D1 hockey as well. Between that, and now Arizona State and probably Arizona, College hockey really seems to be in good shape and growing.

I got some pretty darn cool photos this weekend at the game. I brought my big 400mm zoom lens and shot from the upper bowl and not on the ice. I will get them post up here later, but for now they are on my twitter.

https://twitter.com/bradwphoto" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That first photos shows how incredible close UNO was to winning the game in over time. I got the photo with the puck on the pipe.
