For those that follow him more closely that I do I had heard a small bit that he had sat out with a sore foot for one or more of the summer league games. What is going on there if anything?

Although that may be true, I think Cleveland has a much better shot at landing Love. That and I hope that McDermott wouldn't get traded...I would love to see him in a Bulls' uniform.

McDermott signed, so this would have to wait 30 days; Wiggins signed also, so he can't be part of a package for 030 days also...

Would hate to see him spend half a career playing for an awful franchise when he had the chance to make the playoffs every year in Chicago.

Sounds like the Bulls are giving up on the Kevin Love trade. Great news for McDermott.

Sounds like the Bulls will trade for Love after Wiggin's 30 day post signing draft eligibility ends in a few weeks.

MY bad, yes the Cavs, I was looking at the previous post...(that's what I get for trying to post on my Windows Phone)
It sounded for a while that the Cavs were out out the Love Sweepstakes, which put the Bulls on the table, but now it seems certain the Cavs will be trading for him.

On Cowherd's show today he was interviewing Brian Windhorst(one of ESPN's main NBA guys) about Team USA Stuff. When the interview was winding down Windhorst without prompt from CC said that McDermott has been incredibly impressive in Vegas this past two weeks and that multiple GMs have said they think he will win ROY.

From ESPN:
What kind of impact will McDermott have?

A large one. I've been asked a lot this summer about Doug McDermott and whether he will have a bigger impact this season than fellow rookie Nikola Mirotic. I think he will, and I think McDermott will become the first rookie to have a major role in Thibodeau's rotation. Omer Asik played some solid minutes in his rookie season, but he didn't get consistent minutes early on. McDermott has a chance to be a difference-maker from the start. The Bulls' staff loves the way he can shoot and space the floor for Rose & Co. If the rookie from Creighton proves he can pick up Thibodeau's defensive schemes quickly, he will see minutes early.

He ended up playing a team-high 34 minutes. Finished with 11 pts and 8 rebs and 1 asst. Had a tough night shooting though, only 3-12 and 1-6 from 3. In his defense, quite a few of the 3's were in and out.

He really couldn't have gotten into a better situation. A top tier team in a fantastic front office in one of the major media markets on arguably the third most storied franchise. Throw in one of the best coaches in basketball and you have an awesome opportunity.

I couldn't agree more. Sure he might have been an elite scorer on a team like Milwaukee or Minnesota, but the Bulls have the perfect balance of getting him minutes and winning.

I keep having this feeling that he will end up being the missing link that they needed to win a Championship. The more he gets used to playing in the NBA the more the sports media is going to be talking about him. Hoping he wins Rookie of the Year award!

I wasn't even thinking about him possibly having a chance to win rookie of the year. If that ever happened, it would be pretty sweet.

According to Shatel, both the Centurylink and PBA have bids out to host McDermott and Bull's preseason game next year. I think Omaha has a better chance to get it based on having a bigger building and having the Creighton ties, but hopefully at least one site gets it.

McDermott finished the night 1-5 with 4 pts and 9 rebs. Korver finished 3-6 (all 3's) with 9 pts and 3 rebs. Jimmy Butler for the Bulls hit a game winning 3 at the buzzer and the Bulls won 85-84.

So according to Twitter, Doug McDermott is at the NU vs Northwestern Football game wearing Northwestern Gear. Apparently they also put a photo of him in the gear on the scoreboard!

Lol, Husker Fan is Bent, CU fan is loving it!

I was watching ND-FSU and then twitter blew up. It was a very entertaining Saturday night.

I wanna buy a beer for whoever thought up of that idea at NU.

Can't believe the uproar over this.

First he is / was a Great Basketball player. But he didn't play for the Huskers, his new home town is Chicago and it was a nice PR move for those that may be buying Bulls tickets.

Everything I have read he was not at the game though and it was just a prerecorded bit. Probably has some Jaysker fans rather conflicted though..

Couldn't have put it better myself. I am sure if they were playing Creigton, he would have been wearing blue, but just because he played for a school in the state of NE doesn't mean he likes the Huskers.

I've really enjoyed it. A friend is a total Jaysker. Loves NU football goes to all games and also has season CU tickets. During winter he roots against Nebraska basketball (and always bugs me whenever CU beats NU). I get the first two parts. What I've never understood is rooting against NU basketball. I get that being from Omaha, in Omaha, or a CU grad, you CU might be your basketball team. What I've never understood is rooting for NU football and against NU basketball.

I could not get a hold of him fast enough after Saturday's game. He was there and when asked about it, totally baffled when I asked him what he thought of it.

It was beautiful......

It's just how it is in Nebraska. I have met many Nebraska Basketball fans that despise and sh*t on Creighton even when they aren't playing Nebraska. The hatred between the two is never going to stop.
