McDermott finally got into a playoff game in last night's 120-66 blowout win over the Bucks. He six min and shot 1-3, scored 5 pts and had one rebound. Not bad for his first playoff experience, granted it was at the end of a blowout win.

I am actually surprised Thibs let him play, but good for him.

Well as the Bull's season winds down, McDermott gets into the game with about 2 min to go. I am assuming that Tom Thibodeau is gone, hopefully the new coach finds a way to work McDermott into the rotation. As poorly as Chicago has shot all year, they could sure use it.

Not really sure you can blame the coach for playing time when Mcdermott is a rookie coming off a surgery in the playoffs, I agree Thibodeau is gone but any coach would have done the same thing.

I agree with that, but I meant looking forward to next season, I would think that he at least receives a little more playing time. The team struggled mightily at times to score.

Really nothing new, just discussing this past season and hope for the future.

Duprey: Doug McDermott’s time will come, no matter who’s coaching Bulls

Thibodeau is gone as head coach. Rumors of new coach is Fred Hoiberg from Iowa State. If he were to become the new coach, no doubt McDermott will have a better chance to succeed with a more open offensive system.

Thibodeau leaves the Bulls as the 2nd best winning % in team history behind Phil Jackson. His record was 255-139; .647.

Great article by Shatel in the World Herald about Doug getting coached by Hoiberg;

Bulls lose summer league game as McDermott misses a tough game winning shot. He finished with 19pts on 8-14 shooting (0-3 from 3)

McDermott had his best summer league game yet last night. Finished with 28pts and 8 rebs. He scored 22 of his 28 in the 2nd half as he led a Bull's comeback victory. The only bad thing was his 1-5 shooting from 3. He is now averaging 18.8 pts and over 4 rebs per game.

Maybe McDermott can get some more playing time and confidence now that Mike Dunleavy is out 8-10 weeks after having back surgery. (which means he wouldn't play until at least late November)

Unless they play poorly Doug and Tony Snell should be splitting the vast majority of Small Forward minutes. If Doug can't capitalize on this opportunity and establish himself as a legitimate rotation player, I would not be surprised to see Chicago looking to trade him before the trade deadline.

McDermott probably had his best shooting game last night since he has been with the Bulls. He shot 0-5 in the first half but 8-14 in the second half including 5-11 from 3. He finished with 23 pts and 5 rebs as the Bulls beat the Bucks 105-95.

Bulls should be a fun team to watch this year with Coach Hoiberg. It's also be nice to watch Pau Gasol's rejuvination after he looked very old during his final year in LA.

McDermott had a career-high 17 pts last night. He shot 6-12, 5-8 from 3. He also finished with 4 rebs and 3 assts. He is now averaging over 10 pts per game on the young season, not to mention shooting 12-20 (60%) from 3 pt range. He is currently 4th in the NBA in 3's made and 8th for 3 pt%.

He is going to be a great NBA player as long as he can stay healthy.

Obviously a young season, but he is shooting nearly 58% from deep and is 5th in total made 3 pointers.

I did the same but I turned back in time to see the end of the 3rd and the whole 4th quarter. It was nice to see Doug get to play a game out to the end even though they were only up by 7-10 pts. He hit a 3 on one possession and then got a great pass on a backdoor cut for a reverse layup.

Doesn't help when Jimmy Butler publicly calls out coach Hoiberg for not being hard enough on the players.

Also Derrick Rose needs to pick up his game. It is pretty sad when your center who only plays 16 mins had 8 assts and you as the point guard with 33 mins of playing time only have 5 with 3 turnovers.

I heard that he said that publicly after yesterday's game. They are so used to Thibidoux' style of coaching they forget what it means to bring their own game. Granted they are almost polar opposites, but it sounds like they needs Butler to take over the locker room, Rose is losing the team.

McDermott goes (33 min) 7-12 (1-2) 2-2, scoring 17 pts. in tonight's OT win. Love the end of the game, Doug puts it away:
