NCAA Football 2014-2015

Big Ten should say 'no' to any games with ND
BTN wrote:So, why play ND?
It’s tradition.
Well, let me be the first to tell you that “tradition” is the absolute worst reason to do anything in life.
Myriad traditions already have been trampled in the stampede of change that has cascaded through college conferences in recent years. Let’s just throw Big Ten games vs. Notre Dame on the pile with Oklahoma-Nebraska, Texas-Texas A&M, Kansas-Missouri and others.

Rendering of the renovated scoreboard (A new scoreboard design will be incorporated into the overall sound system structure — displaying a 25-foot illuminated “N” above the video board and topped with a graphic of a football visible from both inside and outside the stadium.) :

I was wondering when they are going to get a new scoreboard. When the current one was installed, it was the largest in college football. With the upcoming season it is #20.

I don't think they are getting a new scoreboard...just renovating the sound system and design around it.

No they are not, but I am wondering when they are going to. I am assuming with this renovation happening, they probably aren't getting one for a few years.

There is still plenty of life in the old one. I think the next thing you will see is suites and a new scoreboard in South Stadium. The hardest ticket to get for NU is the suite, already a wait list.

Not everyone is going to be connecting to wi-fi simultaneously, especially if the cell carriers get enough mobile equipment to minimize bandwidth congestion. You had over 70,000 people show up to the Super Bowl in New Orleans in 2013 and the wi-fi network only needed to support 30,000 simultaneous connections.

I'm still curious given the fact that cell phone reception and internet is..interesting sometimes in the Stadium, how Wifi for 90...er..70...er.. 30,000 people will be.

Color me a tad skeptical.

They are not the first stadium or arena to install this type of system. From what I have read elsewhere it works great when installed for this purpose. With the $$$ that are being spent I am huessing it will be first class. The WIFI that was in PBA at the end of the season worked great. ....l and yes, I understand that the head count is different.

The 15 Most Loyal Fan Bases In College Football

15. Clemson Tigers Fans
14. Oklahoma Sooners Fans
13. Tennessee Volunteers Fans
12. Texas Longhorns Fans
11. Texas A&M Aggies Fans
10. Auburn Tigers Fans
9. Penn State Nittany Lions Fans
8. LSU Tigers Fans
7. Florida Gators Fans
6. Michigan Wolverines Fans
5. Georgia Bulldogs Fans
4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Fans
3. Ohio State Buckeyes Fans
2. Alabama Crimson Tide Fans
1. Nebraska Cornhuskers Fans

Nebraska has not challenged for a national championship in over a decade, but its fans base is still by far the most loyal in the country. The Cornhuskers have sold out a 91,000-seat stadium 333 straight times – an absurd number – dating back to 1962. Nebraska fans don’t take a Saturday off – even if the team is playing on the road.

Ask ND fans – back in 2000, when No. 1 Nebraska traveled to South Bend to take on the Irish, a sea of red invaded Notre Dame Stadium and virtually made it look like an NU home game. There’s a reason that the Big Ten, which has made it clear that it wants to expand to bigger markets for media purposes, made an exception for the Cornhuskers. Hopefully in the next decade, the program can return to its dominating ways and give its faithful more to cheer about.

I bet Iowa would love to have the fan base that Nebraska does:

Iowa Students Could Win Free Tuition For Buying Football Tickets

This comes a few days after this:
Iowa officials ask questions about tepid ticket sales
Hawkeyes have plenty of tickets available for every football game this fall

Basically, they are having giveaways to entice students to buy season tickets for football.
the football program now has a plethora of available tickets. Big Ten rivals Nebraska and Wisconsin? The school has more than 5,000 tickets available. Instate foe Iowa State? More than 2,000 ready for the public. Homecoming opponent Indiana? Almost 7,000. And non-conference opponent Ball State, which won 10 games last year? More than 10,000 are left.....From 2004 through 2012, Iowa averaged a near-sellout at more than 70,000 fans a game. Last year, Iowa failed to surpass 70,000 for any game.

^^

Similarly Purdue tore down over 6,000 seats in their stadium and replaced it with a beer garden for students and other ticket holders that buy VIP cards. I think this kind of stuff will become more common in the next few years, just too much incentive to not go to games and sit in tiny seats anymore. Going to have to enhance to experience to get fans there.

For the first couple of minutes, it really looked like the Ducks were going to run away with it. Not so fast, said the Bucks.
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.

After the Ducks first drive I was thinking, here we go again... But then it was another Midwestern beef besting the Fun 'n Gun offense, and wearing down both their offensive and defensive lines...

But then Columbus broke out: Goal post torn down, 89 fires set after Ohio State's national title win
