2015 Nebraska Baseball

Post by Coyote »

Nebraska's 2015 baseball schedule just came out, with 15 games against NCAA Tournament teams, including a trip to UNLV, @ Houston to play aTm, LSU, and Hawaii, UNO at Werner Park and Hawks field, and Creighton, two at TDA, one at Hawks...

The crowd yesterday was huge! I don't remember that big of crowds for early season games since about 2006.

Record non-conference attendance for a series 17,034. NU sweeps, after Erstad comes out in the 5th to chew out the team.

The weather was perfect for baseball this weekend. Really wish I could have gone down to Lincoln. Will definitely make some of the games. Hoping my schedule works so I can see NU vs UNO at Werner Park.

I hope he wrote down what we came out and said to everyone from the infield that he called to the mound. From the next pitch on the guys came out of their funk and stopped going though the motions. The Fla. Gulf Coast team was no push over and they knew how to play. Last season they finished at 39-22. It was a good weekend for the Huskers to sweep them.

I was listening to the game on the radio, and as Erstad came out the announcers started to talk about what a great coaching move that was, but then after seeing a team turn it up after his speech, everyone was like dang, what did he say. So the announcers asked him about it after the game, Erstad said something like, we talked about about where we were going after the game. :banger:

Also, what was up with not one but two impeding the catcher throws the umps called?

I was at the game. It was like they were barely going through the motions until the visit. He wasn't putting on a show at all just talking to the guys but you could tell he had their undevided attention. I did here his post game where he talked about what he said and stated with the joke. To be a little more accurate and to make it even funnier he said something to the effect that they were talking about what post game tailgate to go to. What made this comical was the two guys there were out sick on Sunday had been to the same post game tailgate and it was believed tht they got some food poising along with some others that were there.

As for the batter interference. The first one was a good and correct call IMO. The second one... not so much at all. The ball was way outside and the batter took a swing to protect the runner and lost his balance. By the letter of the rule it was maybe a call that should be made. IT was closer to a wild pitch though. Without the call the steal would ahve ben safe by a long ways. Erstad went out and argued it and was there a long time. He held it well and got more time to get his point across than many would.

I really like the HC that Erstad is turning into.

Fullerton must of landed at the same time I was dropping off my friend tonight. The whole team was walking out.

I hope the Huskers can get two in against Cal State Fulerton. They are for sure a NAME program but they are a bit down this year. As of today they are only 11 - 11. The have played a decent schedule but as of today it is ranked only at 73rd while in the same ranking the Huskers are ranked 28th in terms of schedule strength so far.

http://www.boydsworld.com/baseball/isr/currentisr.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In the same ranking Texas is 23rd with a season record so far of 16-8

If we can get the games in and take care of business the the two midweek games should be a couple we can see the Huskers win.

Bad weekend for the Huskers. Coming off the sweep of Texas, along with mid week victories over UNO and CU, I expected more. Maryland even tried to give us the game Sunday with the 3 run dropped pop up.

As much as I did not like Maryland coming to the B1G for football. They are a nice addition for baseball and basketball.

Another in state win for NU, with NU over UNO 8-6. Hopefully NU starts playing with less errors in their Big 10 games.

With Haymarket flooded out Nebraska officials have contacted TD Ameritrade and Werner Park. Issue is that both Creighton and the Storm Chasers are at home this weekend. I am sure they could make it work, but there has to be a lot of moving parts. It looks like Nebraska's schedule was for Sat-Monday and Creighton plays early both Sat and Sunday so in theory they could have Nebraska play at night maybe.

The Husker scheduled is for Sat, Sun, Mon. They always schedule that way at Finals week so they are not playing on the Friday of Finals.

I hear they are looking at Hastings as a possible location too.

Say K State, KU and a field in Kansas City also mentioned. These were all in Tweets and an interview report that seemed to be somewhat official from the U Athletic department.

Bet we hear more today.

Checking out Twitter today the field is completely drained, it looks like they should be able to play on it tommorow barring no more rain.

I think Erstad is a great guy... but I think he's an average coach, and it's time to move on.

I'm fine with Erstad. Bad end of season for NU baseball.

Crazy how fast the Big 10 is improving. All of the investments seem to be paying off. I hated the idea of Big 10 baseball when we joined, but it has definitely been better than advertised or I had hoped for.

I saw where NU tweeted that they finished the year in the top 10 in attendance for baseball nationally.

It is not time for Erstad to go anywhere at this point in time

I do think we really miss Will Bolt after his departure to A&M. I really wonder if his replacement ,Kirby I believe, is what is needed. After one year the base running and Offense is off and that is his area.

Something really needs to change with our offense, the hitting is awful.

There are folks within the fanbase who already want to hang Erstad?

I'm no Husker fan, but the mess Andersen left when he was put to pasture was deeper than those folks think.
