They just had an NBA beat writer on a.m. 590 the drive with Joe and Nick. He said the Chicago Bulls will be playing a preseason game at PBR in Lincoln next fall.

Wow, I am surprised as well. The Centurylink is a lot larger venue and probably better suited to host an NBA game, plus the added attraction of having Doug McDermott getting to play in front of all the fans in Omaha again.

PBA was in talks with the Bulls before Doug was even drafter. I am sure that ground work helped them.

Really not too surprised, the Bulls came to Lincoln a couple years back to tour Nebraska's new practice facility because they were planning one of their own. Also, Lincoln has hosted a Bulls preseason game before back in the 90s.

I know Omaha never gets NHL exhibitions because of River City Roundup.

Very cool for Lincoln, will definitely try and get tickets.

That's why I was hoping for the game to be hosted in Omaha. That and the fact the the CLink is a much larger arena.

Man KFAB is creating a Lot of stink this morning (more than normal) about this game being in Lincoln and not Omaha. Their spin (Jim R) gets old. Wish there was a local alternative in the AM

I am assuming that most of the tickets will be bought by CU fans, I mean it is only 45 minutes. Doug will probably get the loudest cheers of the night if anything.

I'm willing to bet a beer that it is to an extent. You'll have Nebraska fans who are still miffed not only about it being a Creighton person, but also the big hullabaloo over that video shown at the ...I think Northwestern(?) Game.

I think it's two parts; One MECA is getting outworked and we need to revisit that whole organization, and probably the PBA made a better offer ($$$) as it is still building a "name". It's good to have it in the state regardless, though.

Does Omaha have issues with the Rodeo that conflicts with this? I know they've used that as an excuse for not having an NHL exhibition. Maybe that's not an issue though because of ice.

PBA though is a fantastic venue for this, designed with basketball in mind.

No, that's in September. If it was in October, the ice is a bigger issue because I believe (but not positive) that the actual Rodeo (not the Bull Riding) is more of a State Wrestling setup where they need to take down the dasher boards and the first 4 rows of seating.

No idea what their excuse is, but I think it really boils down to them being out-worked. I could be very wrong, though.

From the sound of the article in the paper everyone including Dirk Nowitzki knew it was going to Doug. Great shot!
