Its only the summer league but Kansas St. transfer Marcus Foster was putting on a show last night. He finished with a 10-year summer league record of 55 pts. Mo Watson (Boston U transfer) was also very good finishing with 50 pts. James Miliken also had a great dunk from the reports I've heard.

If those guys are able to make some of the shots they did last night, this season is going to be a major upgrade from last year.

Creighton gets another JUCO guard, Malik Albert. Word is Grosselle will walk-on which means the third year in a row of a starter walking on at Creighton.

Sounds like a good get...hopefully they can find space for all the new signees.
A year ago, via the NJCAA's official website, Albert played in 31 games and averaged 24.4 points and 4.5 assists per game with a free throw percentage of 79.4. He logged 42.8 points per 40 minutes and was 3rd in steals with 94.

From the 3 min of practice that the world herald had posted on their website: http://www.omaha.com/creighton/blog/tbl ... 55631.html

Ronnie Harrell's shot looks amazing. He hit all 3 of his contested 3's that he took. Sounds like the intensity has definitely picked up compared to last year. Exactly what this team needed. I am not predicting they finish in the top 2 or 3 in league play but I think there is a good chance they finish in the top half this year. Much more athletic players and much more attention to detail so far.

Rounded out by IUPUI, @OU, North Texas, Coppin State. And as predicted joining Nebraska Cornhuskers for worst home schedules....the Creighton Bluejays. The season ticket holders deserve better.

I'll take a non conference schedule that includes every major conference except the SEC.

Maybe just stick to game planning for Incarnate Word instead of trying to start |expletive| on a Friday afternoon.

You must be confused....I'm agreeing with Blueblood. The fans deserve better. As I noted in the Nebraska thread..the Jays home non con would be weak. Turns out I was right. Unfortunate for the season ticket holders for NU and CU.

I am a huge Creighton fan and season-ticket holder. I agree, I wish the non-conference home slate was better. Two years ago it was awesome adding all the Big East schools, last year we had a home game with Oklahoma, but this year the only home non-conference game that sticks out is NE and that is not saying much.

At the end of the day both programs will be running out a roster that is pretty inexperienced so it is probably good for the teams. Not so much for the fans. Luckily there should be some solid teams coming to Lincoln and Omaha in conference play.

While its way too early for preseason rankings, Creighton looks to have 2 very tough non-conference road games. ESPN is ranking Oklahoma #8 and Indiana #14.

Sometimes I almost wonder if this type of terrible competition hurts them. With so many newcomers this year, I think any playing time on the court together is a good thing.

Sixteen transfers who will make the biggest impact this season
Yahoo Sports wrote:6. Cole Huff, Creighton (from Nevada): If Creighton ascends in the Big East pecking order this winter after last year's last-place finish, it's likely that Huff will be one of the primary reasons. The 6-foot-8 junior averaged 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in his final season at Nevada and led Creighton in scoring during its tour of Italy this summer. He played mostly power forward at Nevada but could see time at either forward spot for the Bluejays.

11. Maurice Watson, Creighton (from Boston University): The other Creighton transfer generating buzz entering the new season is Watson, a 5-foot-10 point guard who was too good for Patriot League competition even as a freshman. Watson averaged 13.3 points and 7.1 assists for the Terriers and he had a 4-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio during Creighton's tour of Italy this summer while also showing off an improved outside shot.

Sounds like Marcus Foster has a partially torn MCL and will miss 4-6 weeks, but should be back around Thanksgiving. Of course he has to sit out this year, so it shouldn't have an impact. Great to hear that he doesn't need surgery.

The Jays were picked to finish 9th in the Big East by the coaches this morning.

I see them more in the 5-7 range this year, but time will tell.

I think that Creighton will be better than last year, but so will several other teams. I see them in the 3 - 9 range. :)

I think it might be 7-9 this year, but next year will be 4-6.

Foster was pretty good as a freshman for the Wildcats, so if he gets along with Coach McDermott, you Creighton fans should be in for some solid guard play next year and following.

Were you there? We were there as well. I think part of it would have to do with it being on Saturday this year instead of Friday and also b/c it was a men's basketball only, instead of co-ed.

After seeing some of the athleticism from the guys on this year's team, I can't wait for this year and next. Yes, there are a ton of new faces who have little or no playing experience, but this team is far more athletic than last year's and probably even the few years before that. Mo Watson did an amazing job passing tonight. It is crazy how he can feed it in the paint with such little space.

Along with Mo, I thought the standouts tonight were Patton, Groselle, Krampelje (sp?) and Thomas. Looking forward very much to this season. I didn't realize Stewart was hurt. Anyone know the prognosis there?
My son got a 27 on his ACT. No this score is not as high as what Jeff's son achieved. But one has to remember the paternal gene-pool my son has to overcome. On a PGPAB [Paternal Gene-Pool Adjusted Basis], my son's score is a 37 and Jeff's son's PGPAB ACT score is 19.

I was hiding behind my camera?

I got there about 15 min early, but I did sprint out the door soon as the last dunk went down.
