Saw that with the more central location, they are going to start the games a 1/2 hour earlier on Friday nights.

New are arena, Frozen Four berth and the best program in the conference getting a new coach could be a perfect storm for UNO to claim their place as a yearly favorite to win the NCHC. Huge opportunity to cement the program these next few years.

No changes at UNO, just put this in their thread because UND and UNO are rivals and we don't usually have a generic "College Hockey Thread" like we do for football.

Haha, sorry I wasn't clear. UND is who I meant by best program in the conference.

This is great.

http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/ ... y-not-last
This morning, when single-game tickets go on sale for Nebraska Omaha at 10 a.m., fans will not be able to to purchase tickets for the UND series (Feb. 26-27) online. The other 16 home games will all be available on Ticketmaster.com.

UND fans hoping to get tickets will have to either line up in person at Sapp Fieldhouse in Omaha or try to get them by phone at (402) 554-6287. You have to believe those phone calls will be left ringing for a while, especially ones that come in with a 701 area code.

There are 500 per game that are first come, first serve. Doesn't matter if you are UND, UNO or anyone else.

Are they not going to have any walk up tickets available then? I think Creighton is committed to always having a few walk up tickets available the morning of the games.

Apparently nothing was held back? UNO has tweeted that the UND series is officially sold out. No bad since you couldn't buy that weekend online!

I am assuming some schools will be turning back some of their allotment and UNO will have a few more tickets to sale. I think there might be some standing room only tickets too.

Making that series the only one not available online is a little dodgy, but hey should be a lot less green in the barn.

After reading some of their comments, one thing is bad for the city of Omaha. N. Dakota probably has the biggest traveling fan base in college hockey. By restricting ticket sales, there will no doubt be fewer of them coming and as a result less money spent on hotels, restaurants and entertainment from outside the metro area.

One of them had a thought to return this series to the Centurylink Center. I don't think that will happen, but maybe down the road it is a possibility. I would think if they only did it for this series and the 10-12,000 that attended, the university could make some money and easily break even.

A couple years ago, during a NET Interview, Trev said that the CenturyLink Center Omaha will always be part of their program and they may play a series there from time to time.

My thought its that is a good thing not to do it the first year or two, let the new arena a be "The Place" and then after people are all settled in to the Baxter, then may be play a game there so that is has some extra special event atmosphere. If they did it too soon, it just wouldn't have the same effect.

Its kind of like the Omaha Royals night at Werner Park last Saturday. They waited until year 5 to do it and they made a big deal out of it. If they did it in year one, it would have been just another promotion and it would have stung some wounds that hadn't healed yet about Rosenblatt.

I would say most UNO fans hated how many North Dakota fans made the trip to Omaha. The year of the outdoor games stands out because they were really in force. This years games were not bad. I too will miss having that many opposing fans at the games every now and then. Added some flavor and spice to it. With UNO Hockey now in their 3rd conference, they really have no rival. We've tried to manufacture some over the years but for whatever reaon, they have not stuck.

If you are planning on watching UNO hockey this year, I would think about getting tickets now. Not many available in new place for general public, and they are going fast.

According to Mavpuck, UNO scheduled their season ticket holder pick up party when the team is playing at Mankato. A lot of those same fans were planning to follow the team to Mankato. UNO still has a ways to go with their athletic department.

Wow that is awesome, I am not ashamed to admit I just jumped on the bandwagon last year. I really want to go to a game this year but I have a feeling that will be a tough ticket to get.

It'll be tough to get them before Gameday, but like all sporting events I have no doubt that there will be folks selling outside the stadium. There's really no bad seat in the house either.
