Yeah, it looks like 18,575 right now...
17,689, I should have stuck with my original guess of 17,575...

Here are the attendance figures the World Herald listed today:
The CWS set a total attendance record this year, breaking the 2014 series' mark (347,740) by drawing 353,378 in 17 games.

From the World Herald:
[But it is worth noting that Wednesday's attendance is the lowest for a winner-take-all game (there have been six others since the CWS adopted the three-game series format in 2003).

2009: 19,986
2008: 18,932
2007: 25,012
2006: 18,565
2003: 18,494

All 17? IS there a possibility of an 18th that wasn't needed this year?

Not sure? Both Saturday games were used, I don't think either were used last year. All three games in the finals were used too.

Pretty sure there was only one Saturday game needed and played before the Champ series. The one open slot on Saturday is why I was saying there was one more available to be played. Vanderbilt eliminated TCU on Friday and did not need a rematch on Saturday to get to the finals.

I think this is wrong. Did we have 17 games or 16 this year?
There can only be theoretically 17 games total.
Vandy didn't lose a game so there was one less game in the lower bracket.
There can only be 6 or 7 games per bracket,
then only 2 or 3 games per Championship Series...

I wasn't focused on the count of games only that there was one possible game not played. I think your numbers are correct for the game totals. There were only 16 played then not the max of 17.

According to wikipedia there was 16 games last year and 16 games this year. So in actuality this series was better attended as a whole.

Couldn't there be 18 games total if they play 2 on the Saturday before the Championship? That might be a single session day, but thought we could have played one more game this year.

So if the World Herald's total attendance figure is right (353,378) here is how it compares to last year:

2014: 347,740 (16 games) 21,734 average
2015: 353,378 (16 games) 22,086 average

If it makes you feel better there were close to 11,00 fewer people in attendance at the last game of the womens cws than the mens.
