My first visit to CWS
Hello All,
This will be my father and I's first trip to Omaha. We are staying at the Embassy Suites La Vista. I have yet to purchase game tickets. I am not looking for GA and am hoping for a pretty good seat (at least decent).
For Game 1, will there be plenty of people outside stadium selling tickets? Am curious if there are more buyers or sellers.
Please post any suggestions and/or tips for the weekend in Omaha. We will be looking for a nice steakhouse to eat at after the game.
Thanks!

Re: My first visit to CWS
Well, Welcome to Omaha! There really aren't any bad seats @ TD Ameritrade Park, obviously some are closer than others, but there are no seats with obstructed views. As for scalpers/people selling tickets, they are there from game 1 until the end of the CWS. Just be careful because cops do crack down on scalping with the blocks surrounding the stadium. If you have general admission tickets and there are reserved seats available, you can use the GA ticket value ($11.50) to use towards an upgrade at the ticket office. Sometimes, the people outside the stadium are just looking to rid a of a few tickets but I wouldn't pay over the face value.
Not sure how long you are planning to stay in Omaha, but there are quite a few things to do in the downtime away from the games. Some of them include the zoo (ranked #1 in the world by Tripadvisor), Joslyn Art Museum (free), Durham Museum (which is affiliated with the Smithsonian), 3 casinos in Council Bluffs (right across the river from the baseball games), The Old market (shops, bars, nightlife within walking distance, about 1 mile south of the stadium)
Lastly, here is a forum on best places to get a steak in the Omaha area: http://eomahaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f ... ilit=steak

Re: My first visit to CWS
Thanks for the response (and the link to the steak thread!). Very good info, I will check out the zoo Sunday before we leave town.
If I gathered that right, I will have my pick of not GA tickets to purchase on gameday. I could buy tickets online right now for $100 a pop in the sections right next to both foul poles, but i figured those were overpriced for the sections, and the same $100 a ticket could fetch a closer in section on gameday.

There are almost always tickets to be found outside the stadium. Sometimes it is scalpers, but a lot of times season ticket holders are willing to sell extras for right around face value. A fair amount of people aren't looking to make a profit.
Re: My first visit to CWS
Welcome to Omaha.
Tickets are normally not a problem. I have had great luck buying them at face value or less from season ticket holders at the bars around the stadium. Last year I paid $20 for three rows behind home plate (Tuesday Night Game) and $15 for right on 1st base 10 rows up (Sunday Night Game) Being Game #1 it might be a little more difficult.
If you are looking for drink close to the hotel and away from the craziness downtown you have Houston's (lounge style bar with 100's of liquors and a giant tv), Pizza West (pizza restaurant with a nice bar) and Beyond Golf (indoor electronic golf bar) These are all a block east of the Embassy and in the same plaza.

Thanks for the tips near the hotel...I like the sound of the Electronic Golf Bar. We are up to three now (Dad, brother and myself). Hoping the rain doesn't postpone the game past Sunday afternoon or we will have a dilemma on our hands!Trips wrote:Welcome to Omaha.

Hope you have a great time. If you are also looking for a great burger you can drive down Highway 370 to Stella's, you will not be dissapointed.Omahogs924 wrote:Thanks for the tips near the hotel...I like the sound of the Electronic Golf Bar. Re: My first visit to CWS
Another question I have is do the 200 Club seats allow you to take the beer to your seat?
Re: My first visit to CWS
I know you can buy it in the club section, I'm not sure if you can take it to your seat though?Omahogs924 wrote:Another question I have is do the 200 Club seats allow you to take the beer to your seat?
Re: My first visit to CWS
You can bring beer to your seat in the club this year. Only in the club sections though.
Re: My first visit to CWS
Slowly but surely beer is coming to all. This is the next step.
