Any idea how many Sapp fieldhouse used to hold. I am just wondering if they will be able to break any attendance records this year.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that they packed 5,000 into the Sapp fieldhouse years ago. I think there is a picture on campus about it.

That was horrendous basketball, but fun to watch. ha. 37 fouls by UMKC and 4 of their players fouled out.

UNO may have some growing pains this year. They miss CJ Carter and Mike Rostampour greatly. They haven't played good defense, and the shot selection has been poor. Too many stretches of wild play.

Hopefully it will get better as the season progresses.

Got to listen to Sunday's game. UNO played CU tough. This is going to be a big season for Coach Hansen. Would be nice to see them do well in conference play.

During the broadcast they kept saying this was CU's best team in 6 years. UNO was up by 7 at one point, but in the end CU went on a run...

I think this may be a good transitional year for UNO

UNO is on TV tomorrow, same time as NU/CU though. SEC Network for anyone looking for some commercial filler.

Wow, I went to UNO and like them but their program is nowhere close to what CU has. And the support NU has is 10-15x what UNO gets for games. UNO and Missouri are two mediocre teams at best.

Nothing wrong with that. Hope that UNO can continue to build a loyal fan base. This state can handle three Div 1 Basketball programs and hopefully they can all be good. No mater what some think.

UNO should be on UNL and CU's schedule every year. Due to stature, UNO would be the away time (vs home and home). Was glad NU scheduled and played UNO, last year, and am hoping they do it again. Disappointed the CU has not scheduled UNO at all.

And these opinions should shape what I want to have on my tv how?

I enjoy Creighton basketball as much as I'd enjoy a colorectal examination. You couldn't pay me to watch their product...at least until the day they grow enough of a sack to schedule UNO in basketball.

That's nice that NU gets alot of support. I like them, but not as much as UNO.

Yeah and Missouri beat UNO last night. The same Missouri team that Creighton beat in a scrimmage earlier this year by 30. I love UNO too, but they are currently 4-5 and the only Div I team in the state with a losing record.

UNO played Minnesota and Colorado tough on the road. Anything can happen on a given night. CU lost at a Missouri Valley school this weekend, Loyola. And it's not exactly like CU only schedules powerhouses to come to Centurylink. They have already played 2Summit League schools this year (UNO's Conference).

Actually they have only played one so far, W. Illinois and the Jays won by 30 (W. Ill only other loss was @ Iowa, they even won @ Wisconsin to start the season) If UNO beats W Ill by 30, I will give them credit, but I doubt that happens in either of their matchups this year.

That's right. But they are playing two either way. IUPUI is only 2 days away. It's not how much they win by it's that the Jays are scheduling these teams. Let's see how UNO does against IUPUI as well. Not saying UNO beats Creighton, just saying both Creighton and Nebraska should be playing UNO.

The point is that any reasons CU could give for not scheduling UNO ring hollow considering they routinely play teams from the Summit League in non-conference play.

Whether people think Creighton would beat UNO by 30 and it would be a bad game is irrelevant since we won't find out this year. What we do know is that UNO has proven themselves to be a tough matchup against Power 6 programs over the last few years. They've played tough against the likes of MInnesota, UNLV, Colorado, Iowa, and beat Marquette over the last few years.

I get it. CU has nothing to gain from this game. If they win, they were supposed to win. Win by single digits, and eyebrows get raised. Lose to UNO and it's a program defining win for the Mavericks.

But, if that's the rationale, just say so. I've heard CU fans talk about UNO not being worthy of being on their schedule and it would hurt their RPI. All of that is nonsense when you are playing schools like Western Illinois (actually picked to finish last in the Summit League in the preseason) and IUPUI. These programs have routinely had similar RPI rankings to UNO the last few years. I also remember CU being taken into overtime last year by South Dakota...a program that in UNO's league that the Mavericks have competed very well against.

Personally, I think it would be good for basketball in the metro to have UNO, Creighton, and Nebraska competing against each other every year. I give props to Nebraska for scheduling UNO twice since they have gone D-I. It just makes Creighton look scared.

At least Elmar Bolowich has alluded to the possibility of UNO and CU playing in men's soccer next season. CU and UNO have played a few games in baseball. The programs routinely compete against one another in womens sports. Men's basketball is close to becoming a glaring exception...in the meantime, I guess they have IUPUI to look forward to.

Creighton also had Indiana on the road and has Oklahoma on the road coming up. Not to mention Arizona St that just beat #18 Texas A&M.

UNO's "tough" opponents that you mention are 5-4 Minnesota who just lost to S Dakota and S Dakota St. and Colorado who only has one loss which was to Iowa St, but hasn't played any other teams this season.

Also if you want to bring RPI into this, according to kenpom:
Creighton: 59
UNO: 202

Not even close. Basically, I agree that I would like to see all 3 schools play each year, but comparing the two schools is ridiculous. Its almost as if they are still in separate divisions. The Jays used to have UNO as a exhibition game and they rolled them then as well.

Creighton: 6-0

2002: 75-72
2003: 72-66

They don't need to play every year. It would be cool to see every couple years, but these programs need to do their own things with the 15 or so OOC games they get.

UNO is playing 3 high major teams on the road this year, I doubt they want to play the same ones year in and year out.

No one is trying to say UNO is better than Creighton. But, UNO compares favorably to at least 4-5 teams CU welcomes into the Century Link Center every season. That's the point.I think most people are well aware of the differences between low major and high major conferences.

If UNO and CU played each other this year, I'd anticipate a 15-20 point CU win, maybe more. But, again, we'll never know as CU isn't interested in the matchup. Until that changes, Creighton athletics opens itself up to scrutiny and accusations of acting scared.

And, I don't care about whether or not Iowa plays Northern Iowa, Iowa St. plays Drake, or KU plays Wichita St. That's their business. We have a different dynamic for college athletics and how we view our schools here in Omaha. I don't necessarily know that there's the push in that state to see these matchups the way there has already been a push in the local media (print and radio) to see UNO, CU, and NU consistently competing against each other.

Again, full credit to Nebraska. They've already played UNO twice in two relatively competitive and fun games. That, in and of itself, makes Creighton look worse in all of this.

UNO would love to play Creighton. I would imagine they'd like to play them every year or at least alternate years between CU and Nebraska.

A well connected UNO booster has intimated that his sources within UNO's administration have indicated they would essentially play CU for free without any sort of guarantee.

So, CU is paying teams like Western Illinois and IUPUI to come to the Century Link Center when they could have a cross town rivalry game that would certainly garner more interest and local buzz than bringing in the other 200-300 RPI teams they schedule.

And more often than not, your CU Bluejays would be able to call themselves undisputed state champions.

Everyone wins when the local teams play each other, in my opinion. Better rivalries. More attention paid to the sport locally.

If UNO could even win 1/10 against CU and/or Nebraska, that would be good for our fanbase. In return, you get a cheap game where you don't have to pay much to UNO to play in your facility as they are right down the street.
