Chiefs to expand “Red Thursday” throughout the kingdom, to Omaha in 2015
In an effort to expand the excitement of “Red Thursday” throughout the Chiefs Kingdom in 2015, the club announced Monday that it will be taking the celebration on the road to Omaha, Nebraska. This marks the first time the team will specifically target fans from another market within the Kingdom during the annual season kickoff.

“We are thrilled to be taking the excitement and tradition of our Red Thursday celebration to Omaha this year,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “We have outstanding partners in Coca-Cola and Hy-Vee, as well as the cooperation of the Mayor and City of Omaha who are helping activate and expand this program.”

The Chiefs said they were thankful to Coca-Cola, Hy-Vee, the City of Omaha and the Chiefs Red Coaters, a number of events are planned for the week of Red Thursday. On Monday, September 14, Donovan will join Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert for a “Red Thursday” press conference which will kick off the week-long celebration leading up to the first home game of the season. In addition, a special celebration honoring former University of Nebraska and Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Will Shields’ induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will take place on Wednesday afternoon, serving as the marquee event before flag sales kick off on “Red Thursday” morning.

Looks like the Chiefs have actually kept the "red" days to game days. There season has been a Bloodbath so far. At this point with one win they are already playing for next year.

The Chiefs have the same problem Nebraska has. Both teams have quarterbacks that have hopelessly flawed passing skills. This is Alex Smiths 3rd season at the Chiefs helm and the word is out in the NFL and everybody knows it. This guy can't put the ball where it needs to go. Now that Jamal Charles is out for the season the Chiefs are going to get beat up bad like they were a couple of years ago. You got no passing threat and no running threat and that equals an offense that is lucky if they are even able to score 17 to 20 points a game.

The Chiefs problem is that they are a substandard organization from top to bottom. The fanbase has made it clear that they will accept losing and the front office just doesn't have that much pressure to put a winning product on the field.

I have to disagree that the fans tolerate losing and does the owner.

When Clark Hunt took over he brought in Scott Pioli who was widely regarded as top GM candidate around the league. He did fail spectacularly. Attendance started to dip (I was getting emails from the Chiefs on ticket specials), and he got fired.

They then hired Andy Reid and Co. Looked to be a good hire based on success in Philly (I don't remember anyone nationally questioning the hire, it was more praised as a good move). So far he has not succeeded though.

KC has great fan support. Many remember when the Chiefs improved (under Carl P. and Marty S.) and season tickets and single game tickets became hard to come by. I think they know they better hold on to their tickets now for when it improves.

Chiefs can't find a decent QB for the life of them going back for decades and haven't been able to get a good O-Line together since the Shields, Roaf, Waters era.

There's a pretty big difference between the Chiefs' level of losing (haven't won a playoff game since George H.W Bush was in office) and the Huskers, who are almost always in contention for post season play.

If the Hunts didn't tolerate losing, they wouldn't have kept Carl Peterson on staff for 14 years without a playoff victory.

They can't find a decent quarterback because they haven't invested in one. They haven't drafted a quarterback in the first round since 1983.

Coca-Cola, Hy-Vee Presented $18,000 Check to Omaha Parks Foundation
kcchiefs.com wrote:This year, for the first time ever, the Kansas City Chiefs “Red Thursday” celebration expanded outside of the Kansas City metro area and into Omaha, Nebraska.

Like in Kansas City, Omaha residents were afforded the opportunity to purchase “Chiefs Kingdom” flags.

Flag sales in Omaha raised more than $18,000 for the Omaha Parks Foundation, which earmarked the funds for a project at Miller Park to honor fallen Omaha Police officer Kerrie Orozco.

On Thursday, the Chiefs presented the $18,458 check to Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert.

With the help and leadership of Chiefs partners Coca-Cola and Hy-Vee, Chiefs Kingdom Flags were sold at Omaha-area Hy-Vee stores, City of Omaha Community Centers and a special celebration that honored 2015 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and former Kansas City Chiefs G Will Shields.
