Nebraska will be very good as usual, but we won't know if they a really a top 5 team until we see how the new setter is. Aside from the most important position, they certainly have an experienced team coming back. Stanford lost their best player to injury and BYU lost their 6'7" star hitter to graduation. Penn State has so much depth and athletic ability again that they are again the team to beat.

I saw the Creighton lost six votes.... As they keep winning conference games, their RPI also continues to sink. I think that for Creighton to be a regular top 25 team, they first need the Big East to improve its RPI. That's going to be more difficult and unlikely.

We're ending our ski trip early enough to be back in town for the Big East tournament this Friday and Saturday. If Creighton wins, they will probably be seeded somewhere between 22 and 30. The worst case for Creighton is probably having to go to Minnesota or Wisconsin. I think that the best scenario for CU having a legitimate chance for the sweet 16 would be to go to Kansas.

As for Nebraska, they'll be a top 8 seed and the only suspense is who they will face in the sweet 16. I think they are a final 8 team, but will need to avoid USC, Minnesota, and probably Texas and Stanford. Of course, avoiding Penn State is always advisable.

Unfortunately they are not hosting. I had thought that the top 16 seeds all hosted. I'm trying to find out why a seeded team gets sent to a non seeded team's home court.

I wonder if it is because they are hosting the Final Four.

That shouldn't be the reason because Texas is hosting the first two rounds plus rounds 3&4. Also, Omaha is hosting the final four, not Creighton.

Unfortunately I just read that too. As a result, Creighton is the only seeded team not to host the first two rounds. It's hard to understand why CU administrators didn't submit a bid considering that CU was expected to be pretty good this year.

When you say Omaha is hosting the final four, are you talking about UNO?

If you really want to go their then I will too! The Host City is Omaha. The Host University is the University of Nebraska - Lincoln for the 2015 Vball Final four. Creighton is NOT hosting this.

Didn't realize UNL was the host institution, it wouldn't have mattered anyways it seems.

The message board fodder says the powers that be at Creighton didn't expect to get this high of a seed and didn't put in a bid. Pretty big miss on the Athletic Department if that is true.

I heard a rumor once that there is a handshake agreement between CU and UNL about events in Omaha. Apparently the deal is Creighton will bid and host Basketball and UNL will bid and host Volleyball.

I don't think UNO's athletic department is any position to be running Sweet 16's and Volleyball Final 4's so I bet the arrangement will stay this way.

I know that this years VBall is a UNL hosted event. From memory I believe that the first time in Omaha it was CU hosted and the second time it was UNL.

Shatel stated in his column that the reason Creighton did not put in a bid to host the first round is that they did not feel they would get a national seed. They are saying they won't make this mistake again. Too bad, would have been fun for them to host in Omaha.
