Alan Huss, a former player for the Jays, was selected to replace Steve Lutz as assistant coach.

http://www.gocreighton.com/news/2017/4/ ... coach.aspx
As an assistant to Craig Neal during the previous three seasons at New Mexico, Huss helped guide the Lobos to 49 victories. UNM went 33-13 at The Pit during that time and the Lobos went 5-1 in six meetings against in-state rival New Mexico State.

Huss came to UNM after spending four seasons at the helm of the prep program at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., where he amassed an impressive 102-19 record for a team that was regularly ranked as one of the top high school programs in the nation. His record also includes a perfect 62-0 home record at Marsch Gymnasium. He coached more than three dozen Division I products at the high school level, including former NBA guard Darington Hobson.

Sad to hear of this....he gave Creighton some international exposure. Watching him play, it was obvious that he has the athleticism but struggled with shot selection in the few min that he got to play.

Not sure how this will turn out, but Creighton just signed a DIV II grad-transfer who is eligible immediately for one year. He did play one year in DIV I at Fordham.

6'10", 240 lbs.

Can't teach someone to reach that size, 6'11 240 is the kind of big body that they need. He was also very good at Free Throws (shockingly), which are the same regardless of Division level.

I agree with all of this. I'd say having Manny around, even for 1 season, is a good thing.. Considering JP jumped ship after only one season on the court...

Creighton really needed a big to play 5-10 minutes to give Hegner and Kramplj a blow.

They do have Jacob Epperson (true Freshman) and Sam Dunkam the 7'0 transfer who is eligible in the second semester.

Suarez is a big dude. In the picture with Greg McDermott, he made McDermott look small and that isn't easy to do since he is 6'8".

So comes to an end one of the strangest recruitments I can remember. Weird.

Oh well, on to the UMASS transfers.

I wish there was some sort of rule that they would have to decide before the spring semester was up. In all fairness to Bowen, he did nothing wrong. He was waiting to see where all the pieces fell at other schools, it just sucks to keep that scholarship open for him and then he chooses to go somewhere that wasn't even in the mix until last week. But I can't blame him, Louisville does have a pretty good track record and is a high profile school.

Looks like $100k in Daddy's pocket helped that decision.

I love that Pitino bragged about not spending a dime to recruit Bowen.....turns out, he spent 1,000,000 dimes!!

Bowen's mom is also claiming ignorance on the issue saying she had no idea.

Report also said that Louisville wasn't the only bidder for Bowen...though I would be shocked if Creighton would get caught up in something like this under Rasmussen's watch. It also sounds like Pitino and Louisville are just the tip of the iceberg as well as far as directly/indirectly paying recruits. I think the NCAA would be wise to ditch the one and done rule and let the top players go straight to the NBA if they want.

Glad that Creighton didn't pursue him after all this.
