We finally get a big man. I thought once UNLV started recruited him and his brother, Nebraska was in trouble.

Huge win for Nebrasketball. He probably will not have a big impact this upcoming year, other than 5 fouls to give, but he should be a solid contributor once he gets a feel for the college game. Miles could not afford to go another recruiting class without a true center.

May not be a big impact this year directly but I am guessing he will see a bunch of playing time and allow some of the other guys that would have been playing center to play a position that works better for them.

Very true. Hopefully he can help out quickly on the defensive end too so they don't have to always double down in the post.

If all they ask him to do is grab 7-10 rebounds a game, block a few shots (his wingspan is awesome), and cause players planning on going to the hole think for a second, his freshman year will be well worth a starting spot. He can learn orher skills better along the way.

Agreed. The size disadvantage during some of the contests last year (Maryland in particular) were comical.

The fear of being posterized on ESPN is priceless.

White requests transfer from NU hoops

Andrew White III, the Nebraska senior guard who declared in May he was bypassing early entry into the NBA Draft, will complete his college basketball career elsewhere.

Nebraska coach Tim Miles confirmed White, a 6-foot-7 wing from Richmond, Virginia, reached out to Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst on Saturday afternoon seeking his release to transfer. White has graduated from Nebraska and can play his final season anywhere as a fifth-year graduate transfer.

Miles said he'd talked to White earlier in the day, and that White said he would get back to Miles later. In the meantime, White contacted Eichorst.

Nebraska's 2016 roster sits at 11?? Including 3 incoming freshman. I presume we're going to pick up some transfers as well?

This is about the time, Miles should be reaping the benefits of his early recruiting. I'd say we're staring at another sub .500 season.

It's one thing to leave a program after the season ends, it's another to transfer from a team when it's almost July. White screwed Nebraska with this decision and left Miles with no time to get a graduate transfer or a 2016 recruit.

Wow, that's a pretty dickish move right there.

I'm loving the name that tune promo they are doing with the NU basketball team at home football games. This week's with Sweet Caroline might have been the best.

Was fun watching NU on BTN last night. Watson looked real sharp (supposedly was struggling with migraines all game). Tai Webster looked like international basketball Tai Webster, not Husker Basketball Tai Webster. Hopefully he can keep that up during the season. If he does I may need to up my expectations for this year.

Huskers have a Game tonight too just like the Jays. Unlike the Jays they are not playing a nationally ranked opponent. They are playing a Div II school, The University of Mary out of the basketball hotbed of Bismark ND.

While I typically do not like seeing these games this one does have a little draw to it as Tim Miles is a graduate from there in 1989

Found this and thought it was kind of neat. The University / boosters have arranged a trip to see the team play in Lincoln for anyone that wanted to take a day trip for $289 and fly to and from Lincoln. Thought the itinerary was pretty neat.

Went to the NU game at Allen Fieldhouse Saturday. Definitely the best basketball venue I've been to and one of the best in any sport. Crowd was great too.

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports (who lives in KC) tweeted about the surprisingly large number of Nebraska fans at the game. I would agree. There seemed to be some in every section. I bet there it was close to 1000 at the game, maybe more (the Nebraska fan behind me thought 2k).

Things are warming up for Husker Basketball !!! and it is not in the win / loss record.

After loosing to Gardner Webb at Home on Sunday afternoon to a crowd that probably only filled 50% of the arena I have heard more "hot Seat" talk in the last day that in a LONG TIME.

See if they can redeem themselves against Southern :( on Tuesday before going into Conf play.

Going to be a long rest of the the year.

NU losing to Gardner Webb at home in front of 8100 fans was probably the highlight as few people actually saw the game..

Results like this make me yearn for the days of "Neebrasketball"...

Not sure it matters one way or another but it should have. Anton Gill, the transfer playing his first year, injured his knee in Practice and is out for the season. Surgery scheduled for today. Hadn't done a whole lot on the court yet and there were expectations of more than what he has brought.

Huge Husker win on the road at #16 Indiana tonight. First home loss for them sense the end of the 2015 season. Huskers played as complete a game as I have seen in some time tonight.

Huskers had a double digit lead early, but Indiana went on a huge run, but then the Huskers really started to get after it.nHuge win!

Nice to see Jeriah Horne with another nice game. Hopefully that continues.

I REALLY liked what I saw out of Isaiah Roby too.

Yeah Roby was another bright spot. I do hope McVeigh gets straightened out, we will need the depth down the road.

Maryland goes on a 17-0 run, but Nebraska goes on 14-0 run to win 67-65 for its second conference road win.

NO ONE would have ever thought the Husker would start Conf Play 2-0 with road games and Ind and Maryland. Now they get Iowa at home on Thur night with an 8:00 PM tip. Hope it is a full house.

Crazy game. NU battles most of the game then falls behind double digits with 6 to go and comes back and wins.....

Gardner Webb, stronger than most of the Big 10.

Two very winnable games at home next Iowa and NW, if we start 4-0 league play I will have to pinch myself.

After these last two wins Nebraska's RPI went from 101 to 69 and now to 49.
