NCAA Tourney Teams Highlight Omaha's Hockey Schedule

http://www.omavs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?D ... =211557206
Omavs.com wrote:“The NCHC provides the toughest test in college hockey each night, and we saw that this year with two NCHC teams, Denver and Minnesota Duluth, in the national championship game,” said associate athletic director Mike Kemp who oversees hockey. “That will be no different next season. We will play 14 conference games against teams that made the NCAA tournament and finished the season in the top 10.

“Our non-conference schedule features three more teams who also made the tournament so there will be no shortage of top-notch competition for us this upcoming season.”

I just called them "Canada"...

Overall good game. UNO got to see a lot of situations. 5 on 4, 4 on 4, 5 on 3, killed off a 5 min major, and also had 59 shots on goal. Entertaining game to watch too.

Only exhibition, but good go get that first win under the belt. Omaha 5, Canada 2.

Its been nice non-conference season for UNO. I was hoping to see them sweep ASU at home but going on the road and getting wins at both Lowell and Notre Dame (Both ranked in the top 5 at some point this season) was good to see. Hopefully they can use this weekend off and tune up for conference play. I think they bar is fairly high for this season. They have been fun to watch in person and fun to listen to on the radio.

UNO comes away with another split this weekend. Win 5-3 on Friday, drop Saturday 0-4. All UNO's losses this season have come on Saturday...

Coach Gabinet did deliver a couple cool awards after Friday's win. Top wing man/unsung hero (Goose award) and Top gun (Maverick award).

UNO completed the sweep of 19th ranked Union on Saturday night. Side note, Tony Boone reported that Mason Morelli is out for the season because of an ACL injury suffered over Christmas Break.

That's huge! Some good results this year...and some not good results so far, but there is definitely a strong basis for the future with the new coach.

I did not see getting shut out on back to back nights coming.

Third straight home sweep since the Christmas break for the Mavs as they take care of #12 Western Michigan, but the end of the season gets harder. Mavs go to #5 St. Cloud St., host #11 North Dakota and Clorado College, before going to #9 Minnesota Duluth. Then we have the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. The latest Bracketology has six NCHC teams making the National Tournament: St Cloud St., Denver, Western Michigan, Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota and Omaha. Put on your seat belts, this will be a heck of a drive.

Fridays game against North Dakota moved up to 6:30 start. It's a whiteout. All fans in attendance will receive free shirts. They look pretty cool.

How many will be UND fans versus UNO fans? Their fans do like to travel. We had to pay $35 for upper bowl. I believe that's $10 more than usual.

Glad to hear that the attendance this weekend should do well.

I have a serious question though, is there a reason why hockey tickets are so much more expensive than Creighton basketball tickets? I sit in the upper bowl for Creighton games and the face value ranges from $12-20 for games. It seems like hockey is ranges from $20-35 for upper bowl seats.

Hockey tickets are pricey. UNO went to tiered pricing, so they upper bowl seats range from $20-35. North Dakota and Minnesot Duluth are the $35 games.

For this weekend due to demand, UNO is selling $10 standing room only tickets.

Should be a great atmopshere.
