This is fantastic news! Omaha seems to definitely be on the NCAA's "go to" rotation for March Madness. The city has a great opportunity to knock it out of the park (again) when we host a regional next March :thumb: ...

Glad to see! As Bruce Rasmussen noted, the NCAA usually doesn't award a city a second regional until they have hosted one, which is probably why Omaha is only listed for the 1st/2nd round instead of another regional.

With Omaha's track record of hosting these big sporting events, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a regional in the next round.

I know getting the Sweet 16, Elite 8 might be more prestigious, but getting the 1st and 2nd round games might be worth considerable more money to Omaha and CenturyLink Center. You get twice as many teams, and double the games.

Maybe the cruel sports gods will finally show some mercy on Nebraska and eject head coach Miles soon........and then replace him with someone who could get Nebraska back to its first Tourney appearance in years right here in Omaha in 2020. Its fun to dream but there seems to be no hope of that happening.

I feel for this that bought tickets on the secondary market that in many cases will not get the premium money back they spent.

Would be nice if they shared revenue from TV with the host cities so as to offset the economic impact of this news... That's just a pie in the sky hope that won't ever happen.

Just thinking ahead 3 months, if this Covid-19 situation doesn’t get under control, the city of Omaha stands to lose MILLIONS of $$ they bank on for the CWS..

Get ready to shovel your own streets next winter  ...

That is nonsense since 99% of us do not make a nickel off the CWS and it will not hurt us one bit! In fact most of us and the city would of been better off if they had not wasted our tax dollars on that new hardly ever used stadium. Regardless of that the CWS is much safer since it is an outdoor event. The indoor events are much much more dangerous due to the constant recirculating of the air. The recirculating of the air is the reason those cruise ships are bad news since you are sitting in your rooms having the same air recirculated over and over throughout the ship.

I strongly thank and support the powers that be who are taking wise protective measures to stem the spread of this virus. Even though I am very healthy and take no meds what so ever and have not been to the doctor twice in the past 10 years I have many friends, relatives and neighbors who are not so lucky. If cancelling a few events saves a few of the vulnerable peoples lives then by all means lets do it.

 .. Your short sightedness never ceases to amaze..

We’ll see if the Covid-19 threat is not brought under reasonable control over the next 12 weeks.. The city will not be able to line its coffers with the millions of $$ in revenue tourism brings into the city due to the CWS event, the Olympic Swim trials and even (to a lesser extent) the Berkshire Hathaway convention..

And if not, prepare your Smucker behind to be outside shoveling your suburban streets next winter   ...

They would just take this pile of lemons and turn it into lemonade by using it as another excuse to raise taxes. Maybe raise the restaurant tax some more. I can hear it now "Were sorry folks but because of the virus our tax revenue is way down and we have no other option but to raise the restaurant tax."

Why. It will not be because those that would attend will be watching. That is a very small % of the viewing audience. Sure there will be a few that tune in for the novelty but they will tune out quickly. The overall TV audience will be about the same as if the arena was full.

I have a feeling if a player on a team which makes the field of 68 for the Big Dance, tests positive for Covid-19, the entire NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will be cancelled for 2020..

This situation is getting worse by the hour; it’s unlike anything any one of us has seen in our lifetimes..and we must get a handle on it quickly...

Yup......The Big Dance will be cancelled or suspended. It almost has to be. We might see them shut down restaurants which would be a good idea.

Annnnd Hoiberg taken to hospital after falling ill mid-game. If he has COVID, that's a lot of Big 10 teams he has had contact with.

a 7 and 800 team could have just taken down 68 tourney teams.

Although he's has multiple heart issues, so that's an entire possibility too.

Gosh Martin, generally and obviously, I hope Hoiberg has a speedy recovery..at the same time, if he fell ill due to Covid-19, it would make me even sicker to my stomach..no pun intended...

It's a strange world when heart issues might be less impactful than him having COVID. If he does have COVID, that probably just sealed the fate of the season.

Halftime of the Jays-St Johns game.. The radio side is reporting, unconfirmed, that the Big East has now pulled the plug on their tournament.. It’s pretty silly they allowed the Jays game to tip off one hour ago if this is the case..nothing official as of yet, but sounds like it’s over...

Oh well, with the Jays playing the way they were in the first half it's probably for the best they cancelled it.
