If they can sweep this week, should be right back in. Of course that is no easy task playing Seton Hall and @ Providence.

Beat out Arizona, Maryland and Wichita St for a PF Top 150 composite ranked player out of Australia.

Another huge get for the Jays!

Love this quote from Froling:

"All the Creighton guys were top blokes."

Another 4 star top 150 player. You can't say McDermott isn't bringing in talent, just wish we can get over 'the hump' in the tourney.

You have to remember that the Jays are only 4-5 years removed from the Valley. I believe Toby Hegner is the last Valley player. I think we should start seeing the benefits in the near future.

Have to hope Krampelj is okay though... Another injury bug in the middle of the year to a key player isn't good.

Absolutely essential they got this win, considering the next three games. vs Butler, at Xavier, vs Seton Hall. Wouldn't surprise me to see 1-2 through that stretch.
Let’s hope for a 15-4 Jays record after those 3...

As hoped- 15-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big East. I’ll take it :thumb: ...

Last year it was Mo Watson on January 16th, this year its Martin on January 17th.

I wonder if Manny Suarez can step in and provide a quality 10-12 min a game. I think the consensus is that the Jays are probably going to have to play small ball.

Coach Mac is good at being creative with his rotations. Harrell, Ballock and Suarez will get more PT, but for some schools they very likely will go small. I just can't see Suarez playing 10 minutes.

If Suarez has to play 10+ mins a game, we're in trouble.

The only time Suarez plays those minutes would be when Hegner is in foul trouble and Mac doesn't think going small against a big 5 and 4 would work.

Well, I’ll say this- unlike the debacle at Xavier last weekend in which the game was basically over at halftime.. This game at Providence was still in doubt deep into the game.. The final score is misleading. With 1:41 left, the Jays were only down 5 with a legit chance to steal a win..

Oh well.. Another tough road loss any way you slice it...

I think the Jays played ok @ Providence. Its not like it is easy to snag a win on the road there. Besides, they have owned Creighton at the Dunkin Donuts Center, with the the Jays only having one win there since joining the Big East. Really, even though St. Johns is still winless at 0-8, the game there on Tuesday night may be tough as well since they have played almost everyone close this season.

I do think if we had Krampelj on Saturday, the game probably would have been a different story. Either way, Ronnie had another good game with 7pts and 8 rebs along with 4 assts. Foster also had a good game with 22 and Khryi got going in the 2nd half as well.

If they lose tonight, stick a fork in the rest of the regular season. This is pretty much as close to a "must win" game as you can get (only others would be against Depaul). They've got to start strong and stay strong, to realize that they still have weapons at their disposal.

Creighton 36
St. John's 25 (half)

The fugliest first 10 minutes ever.
Both teams 3/16 to begin the game.

Thankfully Toby, Marcus and Khyri are all hitting, because no one else is doing anything offensively.

Ugly win, but Foster finished with 24 and a career-high 8 rebs. Also a classy move by him at the end in not dunking the ball even though he had a wide-open lane.

An ugly win is always better than a pretty loss. That said, kinda concerned about bench production and the amount of minutes the starters have to be in.

Epperson has been practicing with the team, I don't know if he has been medically cleared yet, but rumors are they may pull his red shirt tonight.

Still...er...in shock they burned Epperson's shirt.

Anyways, gutsy win. Needed to sweep Georgetown. Now just do the same for DePaul and beat Marquette and we should be good.

The Jays darn near gave away this one..

And Coach Mac needed to burn that shirt. If this team has ANY hope of playing in the tournament past the opening round, they need a low post presence in the paint.. Considering how excellent this Jays team is on the wings- Taz and Foster- the team does not want to waste this special combination. To me, the decision was a no brainer..and it was going to happen anyway. The only question was when...

A "no brainer"? ...Uh...if and only if Epperson was ready after his knee surgery rehab, which only he, coach (and the medical staff?) knew if he was. Thankfully he was, thus my shock, and can play.

What I’m saying is, given that, Coach Mac’s decision was a no brainer..

He had been practicing with the team.. if he wasn’t cleared, that wouldn’t have even happened imo.. No shock to me his redshirt was burned. The team doesn’t want to waste the best wing players they’ve had on an early NCAA tournament flameout with no low post player.. that might still happen anyway.. But you know Foster is a senior and Taz might not return for his senior season.. Mac is rolling the dice..

No surprise to me.. Really...
