Wow that is great! Great to get a home and home with such a quality program. I think most of us agree that it would be great to see Creighton mentioned with the likes of Gonzaga someday.

Glad to see Creighton scheduling tough. They already have games vs Nebraska, Northwestern and also in a tournament with Baylor, UCLA and Wisconsin. That is how to get your name and brand out there.

Maybe he wants two easy wins agains Miles every year instead of one?

Could be interesting as I just saw rumors that McDermott is now the favorite. Creighton, now that they are in the Big East is much better positioned to find a quality coach as replacement, however, than they were before in the Valley for sure. Guess time will tell.

If he leaves it will be interesting to see how many recruits also leave.

Reports this AM are that he has the offer in hand but no feel if he has or will accept it. By days end we will know I am sure.

No guarantee of two games / year the way the Conf is scheduled. Besides, won't Miles be the top candidate for the Jays if the position opens?

I thought it was a guarantee to play each team twice? Ah, with the additions to the Big 10 I suppose that isn't an option anymore.

If Bruce is drunk, high, and was kicked in the head by a horse he may just consider going to Miles as the replacement. Actually, even then he probably wouldn't.

There were reports of a private plane leaving Eppley late last night bound for Columbus and many thought it was McDermott, but it turns out it was the Ohio St AD heading back to Columbus.

Hopefully McDermott chooses to stay at CU. He is such a positive influence on both the university and city. There were rumors that if he did leave, Tom Crean could be a possible replacement. I think Crean is a good coach, but not quite the caliber of individual that McDermott is.

The comments I saw some OSU fans make against McDermott make me dislike them even more (comments outside of coaching, and at a more personal level)

Great news for the Jays.

If CU was still in the MoVally he would have been gone IMO but if that were the case he may not have been on the radar for them either.

And on top of everything else he didn't need to say Wooooo Pig Sooie Razorbacks to figure out he wanted to stay in Omaha.

This from the Des Moines Register:

Apparently they didn't get the memo that Creighton left the MVC 4 years ago.

If CU is still in the Valley I don't think he gets the offer.

I know they just had layoff but hopefully CU bumped his salary are told him it's coming.

Duke or UNC? Michigan or Michigan State? Who has the best job in every state?
Nebraska: Creighton Bluejays
Ohio State offered Greg McDermott an opportunity to move to the Big Ten, but Creighton's head coach said no. He couldn't leave CenturyLink Center, the energized Jesuit school's home that sells beer and finished in the top-10 in attendance in 2015-16.

The Jays just picked up a commitment last night from 6'8" forward Christian Bishop from the KC area for the 2018 season. He can't officially sign until November.

The Jays added another transfer yesterday, Damien Jefferson. He will have to sit out this year and will have 3 years of eligibility left after playing this past season for New Mexico and avg 5.3 pts and 2.3 rebs. He was a 3 star recruit out of East Chicago, IN.

Can't help but worry this means we're out with the UMASS duo. That would suck.

Listed as a PF McDermott wants him to play the 3-4 and work on the 3-pt line. If that develops he will be a hard match-up and perfect set up for isolations.

Great job by the coaching staff. 2 big men for the 2018 season. I was beginning to wonder since they have recruited so many guards lately but the addition of these two should greatly help. By then, the last of the MVC players on the roster should be gone too.

Exactly... and Good "Big Men" are at a premium, so getting two in one season is magnificent. It's mind blowing how we're now getting recruits that Kansas, and other traditional powers wanted. Guess the only thing holding Creighton back was the conference affiliation. Now to get over the dreaded 2nd round hi-jinks.

Jays announce non-conference schedule:

Fri Nov 3 UNC Pembroke (Exhibition)
Fri Nov 10 Yale
Sun Nov 12 Alcorn State
Wed Nov 15 @ Northwestern
Mon Nov 20 vs TBD (Baylor/UCLA/Wisconsin) @ KC Sprint Center
Tue Nov 21 vs TBD (Baylor/UCLA/Wisconsin) @ KC Sprint Center
Sat Nov 25 SIU Edwardsville
Fri Dec 1 @ Gonzaga
Tue Dec 5 North Dakota
Sat Dec 9 Nebraska
Fri Dec 15 Maryland Eastern Shore
Mon Dec 18 UT Arlington
Wed Dec 20 USC Upstate

Unfortunately no intriguing matchups for the home slate. Next year we should have Gonzaga @ home.

Yale is decent (beat Baylor two years ago? in the tourney)
Northwestern is decent
Baylor/UCLA/Wisconsin, enough said
Gonzaga, enough said
North Dakota made the tourney last year

The rest aren't great, but overall I like the schedule in terms of strength.

I'd love for them to start playing Wichita State. I'd also like Creighton (and Nebraska) to start playing UNO every year.

Big East offseason power rankings
CBS Sports wrote:Villanova: Jalen Brunson will guide the Wildcats to another really good season. Omari Spellman enters the lineup and Mikal Bridges is poised for a breakout season.

Xavier: Blueitt may well battle with Brunson for league POY, but Macura is someone to watch, too. Chris Mack is coming off an Elite Eight appearance, and Xavier should make its fifth straight Big Dance.

Providence: The Friars were expected to take a step back last season but still made the NCAAs. With most of the roster back, Ed Cooley's team -- fueled by Cartwright and Bullock -- should have 20 wins by Selection Sunday.

Seton Hall: Another team with a lot of returning talent -- Delgado, Carrington, Desi Rodriguez and Myls Powell -- the Pirates are a great dark horse pick to win this conference.

Butler: Losing Holtmann also meant losing Kyle Young, the highest-rated recruit in the class of 2017. The Bulldogs still have a highly competitive roster, giving Jordan a lot to work with.

Creighton: Foster has the potential to lead the nation in scoring and the Bluejays get a boost from guard Kaleb Joseph, who transferred from Syracuse. Had Patton not gone to the NBA, Creighton would be in the top three.

St. John's: The Johnnies -- who will be led by LoVett and Ponds -- look like they're a year away, but they're going to be a lot of fun.

Marquette: Lots of pieces are gone from a 19-13 team, but the Warriors still have PG Markus Howard. He made 55 percent of his 150 3-pointers last season to lead the nation in percentage beyond the arc.

Creighton will open the Hall of Fame Classic in KC on Monday November 20 @ 6pm vs UCLA (ESPNU). Winner plays for the championship at 9pm on Nov 21 (ESPN2). Loser plays the loser of Wisonsin/Baylor at 6:30 pm on Nov 21 (ESPN3).

Glad to add another team to the list for a Creighton opponent since they previously played WI last year at home and of course Baylor in the NCAA tournament a few years ago.
