Love the O! As a Bull's fan, I wish they would have kept him. I am not sure what the Bulls are doing. Their front office is a mess. Butler was a very reliable and consistent player. They stuck with D Rose forever and he couldn't even get through a whole season without having a major injury.
Congrats to Justin though!

Wouldn't be too surprised if he plays significant time for Timberwolve's G league team to give him some more experience.

Yeah he might have to work hard to get any playing time. Also how good was his defense as the MN coach is known for wanting good defensive players?

Yes, while I agree JP left at least a year too early, but...
If you can get a first round contract , who in their right mind would turn down guaranteed $millions?
Who would throw away a (pun included) Lottery ticket?
Now. Now that decision and pick has been made... I hope and pray...
JP is sent right away to the D League and spends time starting there to develop his skills,
And by skills I really mean his defensive skills, the guy has an offensive ceiling with no bounds,
But as everyone says, Thibideoux wants a defensive presence.
Give the kid a workout regiment, a nutritionist...
Build his body into a dream machine, and in three years, 2020 Timberwolves.......

JP could probably still live in Omaha while he plays there.. The entire time, he'd be thinking, "man, I could have played on a much bigger stage, in front of MANY more people and often times, in front of a national television audience..if i only stayed in college ONE more season..." lol...
Well that sucks for him. Looking up recovery time it can be 6-8 weeks to 3-4 months. The 76ers first rounder last year missed his whole first season because of similar break.
Also what is with the Riverdale, GA native -- I thought his hometown was listed as Omaha.

It's Karma man. If the kid would have stayed at CU for at least his sophomore season, this never would have happened ..
Karma aside, a bad break (pardon the pun) for JP indeed. And it certainly puts his first pro season in major doubt. And for what it's worth, the W-H story mentions nothing about Riverdale, GA.. Just that he's an Omaha North product and the first Omaha metro player drafted in the NBA since Rich King in 1991...

With the NBA season about to start:
Iowa, Iowa St and Nebraska have a combined 3 players in the NBA (all for Iowa ST)
Creighton has 4 (Patton, McDermott, Tolliver, Korver)
Currently Out
Patton (foot) is jumping in controlled situations but has not been cleared for contact, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "We want to take the long view with him," said head coach Tom Thibodeau. "We want to make sure there's a progression to it. He's handled everything that has come his way so far. He's doing the right things."

Justin Patton has played five games with the Timberwolves’ G League team in Iowa and the Iowa Wolves have just Saturday’s game between now and Dec. 29.
When asked if Patton is close to being recalled to the NBA, Thibodeau said they’re taking it “day by day.”

I’ve said it all along (and I know he ended up injuring his foot which was a setback), but I still think JP would have benefited, greatly, from one more year in college..
From a fan perspective, the Jays are having a nice season thus far currently sitting at 13-3 and 3-1 in the Big East.. Just think how much better this current CU team would be with JP in the lineup now for his sophomore season.. *sigh*.. I digress I know.. But what could have been...

Last night he played 19 minutes, 4 pts, 3 reb.
Friday he played 18 minutes, 19 pts, 3 reb...
Before that 16, 6 and 6.
He is getting good pt with the Iowa Wolves.

I was out of town and missed this headline. Minnesota Timberwolves reassign former Bluejay Justin Patton to G League affiliate He was called up on 24th and sent back to G league on 27th
His per 36 numbers tell the full story, though. His 19.4 points per 36 minutes rank first on the team going along with with 9.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 blocks while shooting 50 percent from the field.

I wonder if this kid has even a slight bit of regret in jumping to the NBA..
IMO, JP left too soon and could have used one more year in college (i know. I’ve stated this numerous times since he decided to bolt after his Freshman year)..
I know he’s ran into some tough luck with injuries and such.. But the college experience, at least 2 solid seasons of it, he’s missed out on..
If he remained a Jay, he could be playing Friday in the Big Dance.. Instead of getting shuffled back to the NBA “D” league..
I hope somewhere, Taz is reading this.. although he is, also imo, more NBA ready than JP..If he comes back for his senior season he could be part of something truly special. And that experience can never be taken away from him...
