Lincoln ends World Series drought
Omaha World Herald wrote:For the first time in more than 50 years, a baseball team from Lincoln will be heading off to the American Legion World Series.
Nebraska champion Pinnacle Bank (Lincoln Southwest) earned a trip to the World Series on Monday with a 6-3 win against Wyoming champion Cheyenne. Coach Doug Kaltenberger's squad went 5-0 in the Northwest Regional played in Casper, Wyo., and will next see action in the eight-team World Series that begins Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Pinnacle Bank, which defeated P.I. Midwest (Omaha Creighton Prep) on Aug. 4 to capture the state title, becomes the first Nebraska team since 2001 to reach the American Legion World Series. P.I. Midwest finished third that year after losing in the semifinals.
