How many people will by the champ game tickets? Â I haven't decided yet and the deadline is approaching. Â It is not that I don't want to but that weekend is so booked already. Â I hope that things don't line up where the weather is bad, Omaha doesn't make it, and the crowds are small and the season ends on a down note in Omaha after what has been 100% successful beyond belief.

There was a stage for games 1 & 2 when there was a 1/2 time "show" Â For games 3 & 4 at home it was empty.

The league Wednesday announced that Moglia will become the Omaha Nighthawks’ coach for the 2011 season. Last spring, the UFL named Moglia, the former CEO of Omaha-based TD Ameritrade, to coach its new franchise in Virginia.
The Nighthawks’ position opened earlier this month when the league fired Jeff Jagodzinski, who led the team to a 4-4 record in its inaugural season.
Moglia’s transfer leaves Virginia in need of a coach. A UFL spokesman said the league will address that issue later Wednesday.
I would bet a lot of money that there will never again be a UFL football game. Â Florida moving to Virginia shows the league cannot yet support 6 teams. Â The players haven't been paid, and many of the office staff haven't gotten paychecks in over a month. Â Mix in the players being upset about the transfer fee business, it would be a miracle if this league makes it through another season.

In their inaugural season of football, the star-studded Omaha Nighthawks failed to live up to expectations, losing badly down the stretch. But off the field, at least, the Omaha franchise was the talk of the United Football League.
The Nighthawks' raucous fans bought up team logo jerseys and clothing and filled Rosenblatt Stadium to capacity, the first sellouts the upstart professional league had seen in two years of play.
Despite that gate success, the team in the distinctive black-and-silver uniforms nonetheless finished the season deep in the red. The Nighthawks lost $7 million to $8 million over the season, the league says, part of total losses for the five-team league approaching $50 million.
My guess is that this will probably be the last season. Â If the league does fail Omaha will still look great for any future professional sports leagues though. Â The support that this team has gathered in a single season is unreal.
Now there's talk of Moglia investing in or buying the team. Â At least we know how he became Head Coach. Â There was such a buzz about this time that has really faded fast.

When I saw the Omaha Nighthawks defeat the Hartford Colonials in a United Football League game at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium on September 24, 2010, I certainly enjoyed the experience, but at the time I didn’t grasp the impact that the game would have on me years later. I have been to sporting events that I enjoyed more than this UFL game, but over the long run, no other game has occupied so much of my long term memory. And here’s why.
Thanks for posting Brad. I remember all the buzz on the radio that day. It was a huge event for the team and the city of Omaha. Too bad they couldn't have maintained that success for the league. I feel that the city wants so badly to have a football team to rout for and with UNO giving their team the ax, it is took away another avenue for Omaha football fans.
On this date (Sept 24) ten years ago the First Omaha Nighthawk game was played at Rosenblatt
They won their first ever UFL game 27 -26 scoreing a TD with 6 sec left to take their first lead.
I was there with 24,000 friends!

My season tickets were second or third row centered behind the first base dugout. IT was fun to be part of as a fan for the first game and the entire season.

I miss attending these games at the old Rosenblatt..
Even though the Nighthawks didn’t make it, I even attended the UFL League championship game that year (2010) also played at Rosenblatt Stadium in November..if I recall, it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving..
Some photos from that same season, 10 years ago. That 2010 UFL football season got the last bit of life out of the Blatt. I seem to remember the UFL awarded the championship game to Omaha, as by far, we had the best attendance and the thinking the Nighthawks would be in the championship game. But alas, it was the Las Vegas Locomotives defeating the Florida Tuskers in the UFL championship, and also last ever competition at Rosenblatt Stadium.
