Even when/if they open a satellite office here as the article said?

I really have no idea.  The OWH article made it sound like people will be moving from here to Denver though.

According to Grow Omaha, their still may be a local (Lincoln) business planning on moving its corporate headquarters downtown, that Stothert's 99% comment may still be in consideration.

If its a Lincoln company I highly doubt they will need to occupy much floor space. Would do good leasing out a building downtown though. Hope this happens.. makes me proud seeing the continued momentum in Omaha. Seems like Omaha has found a winning formula with offering tax incentives to spawn corporate growth downtown!

They seemed to know about a Lincoln company that was mentioned in an article in the LJS in January about moving to Omaha, but they talked over each other when mentioning the name. It sounded like a real estate company, but again was just speculation on Stothert's (other 99%), maybe Brad can remember the company.

Doing a quick search, this is the only piece of news I could find:

Bailey Lauerman shifting bulk of employees to Omaha

Lincoln Journal Star wrote:As part of the move, all of the creative staff -- artists, designers, copywriters -- as well as account management staff, eventually will migrate to the Omaha office.
Wikipedia wrote:Bailey Lauerman is an advertising and communications agency headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska. Founded in 1970 by Rich Bailey and Bart Lewis, the independently owned agency has offices in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska. The agency has a nation-wide client list which includes Cessna, Disney, Jeppesen, Pepsi, Union Pacific, and AMC Theatres.

Brad just confirmed with me that it was Bailey Lauerman that they mentioned on Grow Omaha this morning.

BTW, Brad again was co-host on KFAB's Grow Omaha this morning!

Do we know if their Omaha office can handle this shift or if they will be relocating to a new office space?

The article mentions "There are about 30 people working in the Omaha office now and about 50 working in the Lincoln office. By 2015, the number working in Lincoln will dwindle to about 10-15 people working in administration and finance."

Their offices now are listed at 1299 Farnam Street, Suite 930 (Landmark) which does have leasing options available...

Sounds good to me adding workers downtown with the huge amount of new apartments being built can only lead to a more vibrant downtown area!

PAC life is dividing their headquarters and operations from California to Omaha. They are currently interviewing for executive level positions.

As the originator of this rumor, born in a time before the 2008 financial market crash, before the historic and sustained low interest rate environment that has a huge negative impact on financial and insurance industries and in a far different real estate market, it is fun seeing how this story has grown and certainly evolved over the years. Take those three environmental factors out of the equation, and who knows, these plans and the WST might have both come to fruition. Times change and so do plans.
My son got a 27 on his ACT. No this score is not as high as what Jeff's son achieved. But one has to remember the paternal gene-pool my son has to overcome. On a PGPAB [Paternal Gene-Pool Adjusted Basis], my son's score is a 37 and Jeff's son's PGPAB ACT score is 19.

This rumor is actually real, believe it or not. not sure how many jobs, but a very large portion of the company is moving to Omaha. I do believe PAC life is bigger than mutual of Omaha, which has just shy of 5000 employees.

You better not be trolling me right now... You know I get overly excited about news like this! Seems like a split like this is destined to be built out west in a business park though.

Doing it from my cell phone at a lake with barely a signal. I like to troll the |expletive| out of folks, but not this bad. As far as where they will setup shop, not a clue. All I know is that the long standing rumor is true.

Thats a good point but if PacLife already has an expensive headquarters building in Cali it doesn't seem like they are interested in anything more than moving more employees to Omaha to lower their operating costs.

Edit: After doing a quick search maybe I was wrong.. Their headquarters might be on the small side for them now...

They also have a division headquarters for the Life Insurance Division in Aliso Viejo that was built in 2008.

Wow ok haha... Seems like this would be the size building we'd be getting if they ever did build a new building here.

That looks like it would fit in well across the street from Boystown.

The rumor forever ago was that they were going to move the HQ here and build a 700 ft tower.  The first part sounds like it is happening, the second I doubt.

With the downtown vacancy where it is, I think they would be a perfect tenant for the spec office tower we've all been calling for.  :;):

How would this fit in with the Shamrock Development? What Square Footage would they be looking for?

Shamrock will have 140K sq ft of office space.  That is basically as much as Gavilon is going to have.

They do have 7 and 9 story office building slated for Sterling Ridge. It could always go there. But I'm going to not get my hopes up so I can avoid another Ardent-level of disappointment.

If this turns out to be not true, we get to tar and feather S33 right?

If somehow this ends up happening and the headquarters is moved to Omaha, that would make for 6 Fortune 500 companies in the city.  That would be pretty impressive considering Omaha's size.

For a company who has spent nearly 150 years in one state, it sure would take a héll of a deal to get them to move everything over here.

But if they do, they should totally change their name to 'Cornhusker Life,' or something to that effect.

What is the time table for this move? Any thought of an announcement soon? Where can I buy tar and feathers for when S33 will be Tar and Feathered?

Heard it straight from a buddy interviewing for a vice-pres position. They pretty much laid the business plan on the desk in front of him.

And here's a thread from a long |expletive| time ago, which helps to suggest this has been in the works for a while until the economy tanked.
