That gave me an idea....
Happy 10th Anniversary to Ben who signed up for eOmahaForums 10 years ago Monday!
Coming up on January 7th, it'll be 13 years for me.. Before that, I was a regular contributor to the long ago defunct Omaha Chamber Forum for 3 years..
Nearly 16 years of chatting with folks about Omaha and the region..

How many forum Chamber Forum posters do we still have contributing here?
Thank Goodness Stargazer had the foresight to welcome those abandoning ship...

I know. Stayed on that forum trying to help keep it on point until the bitter end. Jeff knew that and was gracious enough to extend an invite here. I know he did for many of us. Other than you, Brad, Jeff, Novak and I, I don't know many at all that contribute regularly. Maybe Jake (MTO) and Tuna, but I don't remember them on the Chamber Forum..
We have a goodly number of members here that came over from the Chamber, but hardly any contribute anymore. Maybe this thread will draw some of the other old timers out of hibernation/lurker mode ...

Not only did I never post on it, I never knew it existed until it was already gone.

It was so long ago, it's hard to remember everyone who was there.. but yeah, it makes sense. It was here I first interacted with you and Josh, etc...

Do schools still have computer labs?
Thats how I joined too, haha. In the computer lab at IWCC about the same time.
Almost 13 years for me. I guess I've become more of a lurking then a contributor the past few years. All the proposed but never built developement in downtown the past few years has dampened my enthusiasm. The loss of the DT HDR HQ was difficult to get over (it's likely the steel would have been topped out.....i know, let it go).

The entire HDR debacle that ended with CEO George Little pulling out of downtown was a bitter pill to swallow indeed.. Nearly as bad, was the George Little HDR HQ location waiting game which droned on for several months after the fact.. But, what's happened has happened..and in the end, I'm glad they've chosen to stay in Omaha. Although I've never been in agreement with the AK Village location decision.. especially as it relates to adding to the nightmare of a traffic quagmire getting in and out of the development currently is..
But I digress. As disheartening some of these developments and decisions have been, you've been a long time member. And your input/opinions are always appreciated. Don't be a stranger in the contributing dept.. ...
Wow. I got a message about this being the Bar Mitzvah year of my membership here. I can't believe it's been 13 years here.
I originally joined the Chamber board to exchange ideas on how to grow your business and network with other small business owners. That quickly descended into a mess. Then Jeff started Eomaha and it was a great fun time, with the new arena proposed. And now this board.
i said I was probably one of the oldest members here and at 59 I feel like a grandpa telling you youngsters about growing up in Omaha in the 60s & 70s. I've been gone from Omaha since 2008 but I still consider myself and Omahan & a Nebraskan. I do like living in Detroit but you just can't take Omaha out of me. in Omaha I owned a number of businesses and moved to Detroit because the business grew and I was able to take advantage of what Michigan offered. The actual business had locations in a number of states. We sold our last Omaha operations in 2010.
Anyway, thanks for putting up with me all these years and one day I hope to return and actually meet some of you. I've really only met Jeff in person and that was an astronomy event. Keep promoting Omaha. It's a great city that only keeps getting better. Now, back to the Bar Mitzvah party!

Thank you! I was in my first semester of undergrad at Iowa State when I found this place and used it to procrastinate on a lot of homework. Now I’m in my first semester of graduate school and am back to using it to procrastinate on a lot of homework.

No steadfast rules, we've only had this anniversary mod for less than a year, sometimes I forget to look to see who has one... I usually congrats on special numbered anniversaries, or those that post often, or those posters I know... I've never really thought about it, but those that have been with us from the beginning are special , I'm sorry to not see Novak's Bar Mitzvah year.
Hey, I just hit 5 years today! Sorry for all of you that have had to put up with me over the last 5 years as I am very outspoken, but usually back it up with facts, but what is a fact anymore?
