Re: Official: UNL Campus Development
I was just at UNL this weekend and that whole area has so much construction going on. I just realized how cool downtown Lincoln is

Re: Official: UNL Campus Development
Looks like the exterior is nearly completed. This building looks pretty massive on that plot of land. It will be interesting to see what they do with the current health center just east of this when the new health center is completed.iamjacobm wrote:Construction cam of the new CBA building.

Holy |expletive|, that's behind Kauffman. I always liked that greenspace back there when I was in Selleck, but I suppose it was bound to be filled up eventually. I haven't been on campus in years, wowza.

I bet that'll upset off the people from North stadium who have tailgated there for centuries.Linkin5 wrote:MadMartin8 wrote:Holy |expletive|, that's behind Kauffman. Re: Official: UNL Campus Development
Actually, I believe all of the parking on the east side of the stadium is REMAINING for the foreseeable future. Several wealthy donors complained about the loss of that primo parking/tailgating locations and not surprisingly, the Regents gave in. Such a shame because making a signature green space on that part of the campus could really do a lot for what is otherwise a somewhat dismal campus.

Wow you are right, that is incredibly stupid by the regents.CapitalGuy wrote:Actually, I believe all of the parking on the east side of the stadium is REMAINING for the foreseeable future. .................The University of Nebraska Board of Regents unanimously approved a $6.25 million plan put forward by Husker Athletics to replace the screens.
Funds to pay for replacing the screens will come entirely from athletic department revenues -- not state tax dollars, said Hank Bounds, president of the NU system.....................
Regents approved allocating $7.3 million from excess bond funds to pay to demolish Pound and Cather halls..................

Ohhh... gotcha.
I still wonder how they are going to successfully do that, given how close the buildings are to the "Husker Courtyards" dorm.

Cather-Pound were pretty old and long in the tooth when I was there in the late 70's and early 80's. Is the demand for dorms going down so low that Abel Sandoz and Harper, Schramm, Smith are on their way out as well?

Not that I know of for now but Burr Feddie on East Campus is in it final year this year. The new dorm / suites on East will be open next fall.bigredmed wrote:Cather-Pound were pretty old and long in the tooth when I was there in the late 70's and early 80's. Re: Official: UNL Campus Development
They actually kept these open longer than they wanted b/c they had too many dorm requests for a few years now.bigredmed wrote:Cather-Pound were pretty old and long in the tooth when I was there in the late 70's and early 80's. HSS complex isn't in too bad of shape. They also retouched Abel not long ago, so my guess is that those stay around for a while.bigredmed wrote:Cather-Pound were pretty old and long in the tooth when I was there in the late 70's and early 80's. Ah. I'm sure it won't be long before they put new dorms in with how fast they are growing.

New health center for campus and UNMC's Lincoln nursing program is finished just off of 19th and Antelope Pkwy.

LINCOLN — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Nebraska Medical Center on Tuesday celebrated the completion of a $43.8 million building that will serve both institutions.
The U-shaped building, at 550 N. 19th St. in Lincoln, will hold the UNL Health Center and the UNMC College of Nursing's Lincoln programs.
The building will open Monday for patients. Nebraska Medicine, UNMC's clinical partner, will provide the doctors and other health care experts who will treat patients.
UNMC nursing students will not treat students in the 107,000-square-foot building, but they won't have far to go to observe treatments.
UNMC has had a Lincoln nursing program, but it wasn't in the same spot as the UNL health center. Administrators in the NU system have said they expect to gain some savings in the single-building model through efficiencies in utilities, some shared space and some shared technology.
Re: Official: UNL Campus Development
And campus keeps growing. Good for them.
Re: Official: UNL Campus Development
A new building, call the Rise, was just completed this summer. According to this Journal Star article, they have a small co-working space, and couple tenants on the first floor, while the second and third are currently unoccupied, but ready to be filled. If you keep scrolling down, there are links to other real estate development news for projects in Lincoln, which is nice.
