Also it looks as though the Hyatt/Hobson building will be only 6 floors.  It was first to be 7 floors much like the canopy lofts (which just were topped off).  The first floor of the Hyatt/Hobson building will be opened leased space and lobby, then 3 floors for Hyatt then top two floors will be condos called "Hobson Place".  Other details are included in packet.

Canopy Lofts:  Apartment style living, August 2013 completion
Hyatt/Hobson Building:  3 floors of hyatt and top two floors hobson, Jan 2014 completion

They pushed it back so it's hidden behind that building now.

The rail yard footings were poured today.  That's the entertainment clump just east of 6-story canopy losfts that is full roofed and topped off which now has sidewalks being installed.  Also parking garage south of o street has footings being installed as well today.  A lot of workers arriving for second shift at 3pm.  Surprising for per turkey day.  Looks like they're taking advantage of 36 hours before weather turns.

Mixed Use Office & Retail Building planned for P & Canopy Streets
City officials on Tuesday announced plans for a $16.8 million, 80,000-square-foot office and retail complex south of the new Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Developers Scott-Woodbury-Wiegert, who developed the Larson Building at 13th and Q streets and are working on the university's Innovation Campus, will develop the project, which will cover a quarter block at Canopy and P streets.
Zach Wiegert one of the principals of Scott-Woodbury-Wiegert, said in the same news release that the company already has a local tenant lined up that will make the building its corporate headquarters.
He said general plans call for a four-story building 65 to 68 feet high that will have first-floor retail and office space on the top three floors.

Benefits of building the main entertainment venue in an already established area. It gets even more established.

I haven't been to Lincoln in a while but looking at the webcam it looks like a lot of the facade for the six story apartment/retail building has been done.  Also, looks like a ton of work is getting done with the parking garage, and steel is going up for "the yard" mixed use entertainment complex.

Lots of activity in the Haymarket right now. Canopy Lofts are very far along and it looks like they are beginning to start the brick exterior. The 'Railyard' is also very far along and it seems they are just about finished laying all of the steel for the entire thing. It looks like all the footings are done for the Hyatt Place and they should start putting up steel within the next week. The parking garage/residential building just south of the Harris Overpass is getting rolling, and it was announced that the new office building for Olsson Associates will break ground in April. As far as tenants go, they haven't released anymore names for the area, but it leaked that a new French restaurant will be going in as well as a new franchised bar that will have a "Serve-yourself" beer style. Really looking forward to new announcements and more progress in the area.

From the webcam it looks like steel is starting to go up for the Hyatt, as well as looks like all the steelwork is done for The Yard.

Hyatt Place is Official
Hyatt Place, a boutique hotel, will be a tenant in a seven-story building south of the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The hotel will occupy part of the first floor and all of the second, third and fourth floors. Condos, called Hobson Place, will comprise the upper floors.
There is a rendering as well but it is beyond my capabliities to embed that image.

The area is really coming along nicely. Far exceeding my personal expectations.

The couple of times I have been thee I have liked it. You have to understand it is another of the formula places but it is good for what it is.

Got a chance to see this in person today.  Very impressive, such a substantial addition to DTL.  And downtown as a whole is looking legit, people everywhere, bikes everywhere, tons of new places to eat.  Lincoln is on the move.

The city council passed it.  They had to make something called a special sign district(or something close to that) in order for it to meet city code.

City Council Approves Addition of Large Signs & "The Cube"
It's 14 feet tall and even more advanced than the screens in New York City's Times Square. It's called the cube.
Because of its size, the Lincoln City Council had to create a special sign district in the new "Railyard" area of the Haymarket. The council approved it with a seven to zero vote Monday afternoon.

Looks like what the finished product for the NDT master plan would've been had it been actually built out. Well done, Lincoln.

It's amazing what can be done when there is coordination by developers and actual backing from businesses, rather than the "Oooh this looks shiny, let's build it....wait..we can't afford it? MORE PARKING!!!" approach the 'developers' in Omaha NDT take.

It's impressive to see the scale of this development in a city the size of Lincoln. This plus the arena make a big impact together.

Debate Surrounding Entertainment District Dress Code
http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/Deba ... 36011.html

The list of banned items is very specific...no clothing with profanity on it, no sleeveless shirts or tank tops, no exposed underwear and no clothing that can be used as a weapon such as chains on wallets.

Damn she is banned from Canopy Street-- torn jeans

Hahahahah, now that's the Lincoln I know. I knew this so called "entertainment district" would be locked up tighter than a miser's wallet with regulations and such.
