Lincoln Restaraunt News

Post by Linkin5 »

I figured I would start a thread just dedicated to Restaraunt news so the Lincoln sub forum doesn't get all jumbled.

Telesis, the company that owns Lazlo's and Fireworks, has applied to the Historic Preservation Commission for signage and changes to the facade at 710 P St. According to the application, the company wants to put an Irish pub at the location, which is next door to Lazlo's.

Also, I have heard a rumor that the area being developed just west of Scooter's at Eighth and P streets, which was said to be getting a pizza place, will actually be getting a Denver-based Brazilian steakhouse chain called Rodizio Grill

They are located in Denver's LoDo, near the train station and baseball park.  They offer a flat rate $19 lunch and $35 dinner menu, before drinks, tax and tip.

I have never eaten there.  It is a white table cloth restaurant.  And yes, it is all you can eat.

That's not a bad deal if it is quality.  Kind of strange seeing all these Brazlian steakhouses popping up everywhere though.

Hiro 88, which has two restaurants in Omaha, will locate in the ground floor of Canopy Lofts, a six-story mixed-use building currently under construction on the north half of a square block bordered by R Street on the north, Q Street on the south and Canopy Drive on the east.

Rodizio's is good.  As stated, it's Brazilian style restaurant.  They have all the meats on a stick basically, the chefs or servers come by your table and shave it onto your plate.  The one I ate at was in south Denver by Park Meadows Mall.  That location closed and the only one I know of is the one in LoDo.

Well, something has to be the first to attract others in this area.  We'll see how this goes.

Tanner's has really good bar food.  Tanner's and Heidelberg's came to NW Omaha around the same time.  Tanner's was so much better.

I sampled Honest Abe's last week, while in Lincoln. The burgers are the best in town, in my opinion.

I still have not been to Honest Abe's but have heard nothing but good things. They apparently are moving to a bigger place as well.

I took a day off and headed to Lincoln for the Home opener for Husker Baseball. Got to Lincoln plenty early and on a whim I went to Honest Abe's to give it a try. Was there about 11:15 and there wasn't a table to be had. It is a small place that is for sure so a move to a bigger location will do it good. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. There was a short line and by the time I ordered a table opened.

Wasn't sure what to expect, Had heard good things but wondered if it was hype because of the theme. I will go on record as saying that this was one of the best burgers I have had. I ordered the 1809 burger and the Freedom Fries. The 1809 burger had Smoked Gouda Cheese, Pickled Apples, Applewood Bacon, and smoky honymayo. It was all top notch. Fries were great too. The one thing I found a bit ironic is that among all the early Ameraca themed items they have on the menu as an option to the fountain Coke products that have there is "MEXICAN COKE" and that is how it is listed on the menu board. The bottles stuff with real sugar.

I will go back again that is for sure.

Sebastian's Table at 126 N 14th St in Lincoln is closing and a second location for Honest Abe's Burgers will be taking it's palace. Both places have the same ownership.

http://journalstar.com/entertainment/di ... ac42a.html
Downtown restaurant Sebastian’s Table is closing Saturday, with its owners putting a second Honest Abe’s Burgers and Freedom in its place.

Erik Hustad, co-owner of Sebastian’s parent company Ground Up Restaurants, said Tuesday that Sebastian’s tapas-style concept didn’t work in its location at 126 N. 14th St.

“We had great Fridays and great Saturdays, but the rest of the time we were slow,” Hustad said. “It was tough to keep the momentum we thought we needed.”

Hustad and Gabriel Lovelace started Ground Up in November 2011 with a mobile kitchen. They opened Honest Abe’s in July 2012 at 70th and Vine streets in the Meadow Lane Shopping Center and Sebastian’s in downtown on September 2013........................

Twin Peaks in Lincoln has closed.

The location will stay with the same ownership and open in January as Yowie's Lodge

Will be interesting to see what their "uniform" selection will be. What that ends up as will tell a lot about if the decision was about getting away from a franchise fee ( this looks like a single location place) or if it about changing the format.

http://www.yowieslodge.com/home.html
MESSAGE FROM THE OWNERS
We have decided to rebrand our restaurant as Yowie’s Lodge, which will feature the same great sports viewing and ice cold beer we’re known for, but will have different menu items, uniforms and décor. We remain committed to downtown Lincoln and believe Yowie’s Lodge will be a great fit for this historic neighborhood. The restaurant will reopen as Yowie’s Lodge in early January.

Hooters, Tilted Kilt and now Twin Peaks are all gone from Lincoln. If they do not change their service level a name change will not help even if it is saving them $150k/200k a year. I would say Lincoln had the worst T.P. and T.K. restaurants I have visited.
