Nebraska Bookstore (NEEBCO) to close Lincoln Store

Post by nebugeater »

It looks like the long time off campus Bookstore in Lincoln is set to close. It as been open in Lincoln since 1937 per the attached story. Another casualty of the internet age among other things. UNL is buying the building at 1300 &Q if approved by the Regents. Assume this is a formality.

I wonder what they are going to do with all the merchandise? June 8 is obviously a couple days away.

My guess it will all be inventory for their on line presence. Don't think that is going away

They have changed their stance and are staying open into July to get rid of their stock/merchandise.

Not a surprise.

I had heard from someone in Lincoln that a lot of stuff was 50% off but didn't ever see that on any web site or ad

Plans for a NikeTown store on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus have fizzled after the university and former Husker football player Ndamukong Suh’s company couldn’t reach an agreement.

UNL spokesman Steve Smith said in an email that the campus is “evaluating a range of next steps” for the space in the former Nebraska bookstore at 1300 Q St. Last fall, UNL selected Suh’s company, TFL Development, to buy a portion of the building and develop a NikeTown retail store.
Plans are moving forward, though, on converting the majority of that building into the new home for the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.
