Anyone notice that the traffic lights along 9th Street downtown are now vertical?

Yeah, okay, I'll admit it's not that big a deal. 3 or 4 years ago, I probably would've made a big deal about it, but not today. I've been seeing vertical traffic lights pop up not just downtown but all around Lincoln recently. I'm talking about lights mounted on poles. They've been mounted horizontally for a long time. Wire-mounted lights have always been vertical. And now pole-mounted ones are being changed to vertical, too.

My question is why are they doing this?
