Looks great...I wish Omaha could have built the Marriott with the apts all in the same building. It could have been 25+ stories.

Be curious to see what the actual final product is when it's all said and done, as things routinely change, the rendering looks good though.

Awesome! Third tallest in the city. Lincoln's skyline while finally make a noticeable change.

Great idea and a beautiful addition to downtown Lincoln.

Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
A 15- to 17-story building topped by privately owned condominiums will anchor Ninth and O streets and define the entryway to Lincoln from the west and north for some time to come, City Council members were told Monday.
The city is assisting the redevelopment project in two ways: with traditional tax-increment financing of about $11.6 million and with a 2 percent occupation tax expected to pay for a $2.35 million bond over 20 years.
The occupation tax will be applied only to customers of the two hotels and the ballroom, but not the restaurants.
TIF and occupation tax funds will be used for site acquisition, utility relocation and improvements, streetscape improvements, and an upgraded building façade, based on the redevelopment agreement.
If approved by the council next week, this will be the second time a Lincoln developer has been allowed to use the enhanced employment occupation tax, which is limited to a specific geographic area.
http://journalstar.com/news/local/govt- ... b2701.htmlThe council is expected to vote on the redevelopment, TIF agreements and the occupation tax funding at its meeting next week.
Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
Two hotels in one building? That's interesting. I wonder if they'll be two iterations of one large brand, like a Courtyard and a Residence Inn. What flags aren't in Downtown Lincoln right now?

I spoke to a city councilman who told me that ground prep and construction will start as soon as weather permits. He said the developer is building 15 stories with a plan that will allow them to add on 2 more floors if condo and penthouse demands need it.

A city councilman told me that this project has been delayed due to financing issues but that it is expected to move forward full-steam in the next few months.

Omaha should steal this project and put it somewhere in midtown

How would another city steal a mix used project like this?PotatoeEatsFish wrote: ↑Sun Jul 08, 2018 11:01 am Omaha should steal this project and put it somewhere in midtown

I seen this on 1011’s website back in June. Hopefully this project is still a go!

Plans for this project have been scrapped. Developers are hoping to continue with a smaller project.

Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
That’s a shame. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll still be able to figure something out with that spot. Lincoln still has good momentum.

Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
Agreed. Lincoln still has good momentum, but this was definitely an unfortunate loss. Hopefully the City Centre project goes through.
Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
That's a real kick in the minards. It seemed as though once City Centre was announced there started to be trouble with this project, have to wonder if the developers thought maybe two large developments like this could not both be supported.
Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
Perhaps City Centre had more backing and it drew the potential Mixed Use Hotel investors away from that project.
Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
Horrible turn of events on this project. The developers will now build a six-story hotel. From a potential 17-story mixed use development to a huge nothing burger. On a corner that could have turned into a premier location in Lincoln.

Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
I hope the Holiday Inn doesn't take up the whole lot so something else can be done there too.
Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
Really to bad it turned out this way. Even a ten story building in Lincoln is a big deal. Why can’t they make it at least ten.
Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
Here is an update (and rendering!) of the new proposed mid rise hotel for this site. The developers claim higher costs which drove them to scale down. I wonder what could have increased costs between 2016 and last fall that would prompt them to drop this project?

Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
I'm glad something is moving forward here but I'm disappointed they are taking up the whole lot. I was hoping they would do something slimmer and have it face either 9th or O, so there could be something else that went in the other spot in the future....like a 10 or 12 story mixed use building.ita wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 10:00 am Here is an update (and rendering!) of the new proposed mid rise hotel for this site. That would have been a good idea. I am not sure why they are rushing to fill up the spot with a single building.CyborgKen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 11:09 amI'm glad something is moving forward here but I'm disappointed they are taking up the whole lot. Re: Mixed Use Hotel (9th & O Sts.)
I heard that a crane is up at this site for the Holiday Inn Express. Still disappointed that this is what they went with for this site, but glad something at least is going in there.
