More than a rumor

http://journalstar.com/business/local/o ... e5495.html
Oklahoma Joe's founder Joe Davidson on Monday confirmed that that there is a local partnership that plans to open one of the iconic restaurants in Lincoln.
According to an agenda item on Thursday's Historic Preservation Commission meeting, Oklahoma Joe's will be subleasing space from Yowie's Lodge, a sports bar in the Tool House building at Eighth and Q streets.

Let's remember this is no longer the BBQ place in KC that won all the awards. That now Joe's Kansas City. The owner's split up and the one franchising is the ones from Oklahoma. I have no idea if they are as good as what we all think of in KC.

Article on how the new version of Oklahoma Joe's came to be, along with Joe's Kansas City. The one coming to Lincoln does not have the same recipes or menu as what is now Joe's Kansas City:

I'm completely confused by this. The original Oklahoma Joe's was started by Joe Davidson. Eventually he met the current owners of Kansas City's "Joe's Kansas City" and decided to do something else in Texas and sold the business to the Kansas City folk. They basically kept the same menu other than something to do with bologna according to Wikipedia. Then Joe decided to start back up in the bbq business dealing with franchises but said he wouldn't do anything in the Kansas City area. So, the original formula is Joe Davidsons? Did the new owners tweak something? I've been to Joe's KC and Oklahoma Joe's (when it was that name) and loved it each time. Is Oklahoma Joe's completely different?

Yes they are completely separate now. The ones in KC are the ones that really took it to a new level and got all the awards. Like the Z Man sandwich.

Except this was the Oklahoma version, not the KC version...

Besides, why go to some Oklahoma based BBQ chain when you can go to locally owned Phat Jacks... Which we did on Saturday! Love Phat Jacks!

Okay got it.

Let me rephrase "0 for 2 on restaurants that are popular in KC, that many people in Omaha associate with KC cuisine".

Much better. If they had actually landed a Joe's KC in Lincoln, I would have drove to Lincoln minimum twice a month for a Z Man. Unfortunately this place did not have the same menu so I never went.
