Olsson is expanding their West Haymarket HQ. $19 million / 67K sq ft / 5,800 sq ft retail at the base on Canopy Street. Project to be done in 2020.

The purchasers are required to build a, at a minimum, 6-story building. I think it is interesting that the agreement requires a public accessible courtyard. Maybe they are thinking another public space ala the capitol district. Anyway, seems like a win-win for JPA and the developers.

Here's an update for the Haymarket Expansion. There is movement on incorporation of an urban park. Concept design is included in the article for those who enjoy that sort of thing.

This is a good project and a smart use of that land. This Haymarket expansion is proceeding with haste. They are already demolishing the old warehouse. I appreciate that the new development will have lower income housing options, but I am amazed that after that addition, there are only 70 something income restricted units in Downtown Lincoln.

Another update on the South Haymarket Park and Plaza. Some site preparation may begin as early as Fall of this year. They are also trying to time work on the park to coincide with work on the residential project that will be adjacent. It will be comparable in size to Union Plaza. It should be a great addition to the Haymarket.

Looks like Hurrdat is taking over programming for the Haymarket District. The Journal Star article has some good background into the project, and some of the difficulties it has faced since 2013; original tenants leaving, current tenants complaining of not enough traffic, other than when special events are taking place nearby (sound familiar?). Anyway, Hurrdat is looking have 90-110 events a year, including smaller ones, like movie nights, to make it more of a community hub.
