I've been a little busy and behind lately, but here is one LB we have already been talking about:

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts is backing a bill that would raise the speed limit on parts of Interstate 80 and other state highways.

The bill introduced Tuesday would allow the state Department of Transportation to increase the limits to 80 mph on sections of I-80, up from the current 75 mph.

We drove on I-80 in Wyoming a couple of months ago and the average speed was more like 90-95. Keeping up was fun for a little while, but made me kinda nervous...
Conversely, the drive south of Cheyenne towards Colorado was more like an average of 75. Must be where the troopers are.

Are you able to go sit in on a committee hearing and how long do these usually take? The one that I'm interested in is #3 on the agenda.

Bipartisan bill to change state legislators pay. Currently Senators get $12,000 a year, new salary would be 50% of Nebraska's Median Income.

The median household income for Nebraska was $56,927 in 2016. 2017 median household income data will be released in December 2018.

The speed limit increased from 60 mph to 65 mph on Interstates 80, 680 and 480.

Rural stretches of I-80, including between Omaha and Lincoln, remain at 75 mph.

The Nebraska Legislature approved the speed limit changes in April. A provision that would have allowed speed hikes on I-80 across the state was stricken in response to safety objections from the trucking industry.

The speed devil in me loves this, but increase in speed is one of the main, controllable factors in the deadliness of a car crash. I think this is irresponsible and I honestly think mr Pete will have blood on his hands with this...

The big fleet companies govern their trucks to 60-65 miles per hour for fuel consumption reasons. Increasing everybody else's speed limit may cause problems.
