Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. of Nebraska wants to build a three-story, 45,000-square-foot building next to its existing headquarters at 1220 Lincoln Mall.
The insurer plans to present architectural drawings to the Capitol Environs Commission on Thursday.
For the past several years, the insurer has been buying up property on the block bounded by 12th and 13th streets, K Street and Lincoln Mall. The company now owns the entire block.
Boslau said the company has spent its entire history, since 1891, in downtown Lincoln and wants to stay.
"We believe that a healthy and vibrant downtown corridor is essential to the economic vitality of the city, and we are pleased to make this long-term investment in the Lincoln community," Boslau said.
The new building would be east of the existing building, with the front entrance facing 13th Street.
There are also renderings. However, posting said renderings far exceeds my technological abilities.
