When this is done, CVS is really going to look like a mistake.

In a perfect world, CVS would have occupied this building instead of demolishing half a block..

I don't even think it needs to be in a "Perfect World"...  I think any normal human being should have seen that it belongs in that building or one very similar.  I just hope this city boycots the heck out of that CVS.

I also hope these two projects going on side by side show the city what could have been and help promote better design standards for the area.

CVS 84th and Harrison

Post by Hoop »

From Omaha World Herald:
With closeout signs in the windows of Big Lots and renderings of new building plans posted on the walls of Divine Truth Christian Bookstore, the plans and timeline of a new CVS Pharmacy in La Vista are becoming much clearer.

The project calls for the demolition of the Big Lots and Divine Truth buildings replaced with a 13,225-square-foot building for CVS on the north lot of the property and a 10,000-square-foot building on the south lot for Divine Truth.

CVS confirmed last week the project is moving forward. Mike DeAngelis, director of public relations for CVS, said construction is scheduled to begin this fall and the store expected to be opened in the summer of 2012.

CVS - 90th & Center

Post by charlie123 »

Is it true that CVS bought the entire corner of 90th & Center (North East) and is tearing down the strip mall that includes Senor Matia's to build a CVS?

False - CVS is just starting to build at 84th and Center on the South East Corner.

One corner I pass every day (108th and Fort) has a Walgreens on one corner and a CVS across the street.

I was kinda hoping that the two of them side by side would inspire some true competition and bump prices down a bit, but no, most of the things I regularly purchase are the regular street price at both of them.

I think one of the parts of this is that Walgreen's again stocks liquor in their stores now.  I definitely think the competition will do them both good.

Is there a CVS going up on Harrison at on the NW corner 156th street?  There has been a lot of movement there lately.

I can't see a CVS at the SW corner of 84th and 370, there's already a Bucky's gas station there and a subway.  Maybe the NW or SE corner.

Drove by the CVS on 49th and Dodge recently, and IMO,it looks pretty good. It surpassed my expectations and fits in the neighborhood OK. The design is much better than its sibling on 90th and Blondo or the new medical office on the south side of Dodge. I just wish that they would have worked in a Walmart somewhere on the property instead of taking up all that land with a parking lot.

Going up that giant hill on the Blondo street entrance at the 90th and Blondo store looks like it will be fun during the winter.

Construction crews are now working on building the 84th and Harrison & 84th and Center stores.

Has anyone noticed the CVS in Dundee has put large Historic Omaha Photos in their windows facing the Piano Building.

I think those have been there for a little while.  It is a nice touch.

Has there been any progress on the 72nd and Maple one?  I remember the leveraged that one against Omaha when the Dundee one was still up in the air, I would be a little upset if they bailed on it now.

Does CVS Still Plan To Build?

Eyesore? Compared to the abandoned gas station, used car lot, and dilapidated house that used to sit there?

Is this the southeast corner of the intersection that had the Bakers years ago?

They're in the middle of building two stores right now. You can't build all of them at once.

I wonder when they'll realize they should be downtown.

I was really surprised last night to find out that this was NOT a CVS, its a new building for the Bookstore.  It looks about done and the sign is up.  I am guessing they will tear down the old store and start building a CVS on that location.

There is an article in today's paper that say CVS is finishing up the last 2 of its 10 planned stores in the Omaha area...  84th Center and 84th Harrison.

Does this mean that the CVS on 72 and Maple is not on the table anymore?  The one they threatened to stop building if they did not get approval for the Dundee location???  Was this ever in the plan or just leverage for the Dundee store?

Rumor (from a friend who manages a place in Benson) is that CVS is going in on the EAST end of Benson, at or near where Louis Market is, and that would eliminate the possibility of 72nd & Maple.  I'm not sure if this is just a neighborhood rumor or for real, but that's apparently the buzz.

Would not surprise me since Walgreen's is building a new store where the old Bank of the West building is once the new Bank of the West building is finished.

I wouldn't mind seeing something else going in at 72 and Maple.  Its going to be a nice corner once its all cleaned up.  Good access since it takes up a whole city block.

If CVS were like Walgreens was 5 years ago, they would build at both ends of Benson...

I see in the relestate transfers that CVS now officially owns the SW Corner of 84th and 370 in Papillion.

I see that Walgreens is building a store on 59th and NW Radial,
so it will be in direct competition with the Walgreens on 61st and NW Radial.
