Yes. They have 8.5 acres. They NE corner (2 acres) is owned by NW Bell,
and the SE corner parcel is a private residence,
otherwise what you see is AIHS property.
They had a groundbreaking ceremony on Jul 18th.

This will be a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, and to the city as a whole.

I forgot to mention this. The AIHS news letter showed up in the mailbox on Saturday with a photo of the steel going up in it.

That's their plan, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how they are going to do it the same way and fit everyone in there and not upset the neighborhood to the west.

Wow, its really coming along. I was wondering what would happen first, they finish that place or they spell my name right on the monthly news letter. They finally have my name right... I no longer have a hyphenated last name!

Now if I could just get our parish to correct my name. For some reason they think I took my wife's name!

I just drove in there and then walked around. I know the contractor and a member of the AIHS (Married to a past board member). I figured I was good to go in and take some photos.

I haven't driven past this place in weeks, but it looks like La Festa Italiana is going to be held here this year, in an "Italian Garden" to the west of the new building (now called il Palooza?) on August 29-31.

That been the goal all along since they broke ground.

This month's news letter says the tentative date for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is 8-21-14

It's "Il Palazzo" meaning "The Palace"

I didn't know this was that far along to even be considered as a site for this year's event, considering how long it took them to get the project off the ground to begin with...

Big turnout for the ribbon cutting today at the new home of the Italian American heritage society. City Councilman Gary Gernandt former Mayor Jim Suttle as well as the Omaha Chamber of Commerce was. Channel 6 and channel 7 as well as one other reporter were there. Members of the other two Italian groups in Omaha the Sons of Italy and the Santa Lucia were also there and gave speeches.

The new place was really nice I think it's going to be a great home for them.

Photos coming later.

I drove past this place last Saturday and the parking lot was full! I don't know what was going on, but I just reviewed notice of a Sausage sale there on the 28th...

Good turnout all three days this year, and the second year at 132 and Fort went a lot smoother than the first.

Still don't understand why people are so opposed to taking a free shuttle from 6 blocks away.

1. Taken just before Taxi Drive took the stage. The grass in front of the stage was full of dancers when the music got going.

2. Fireworks
