I forgot to mention that they are aiming for a May 1st completion date. I was told they are now painting the interior, which is further along than the outer brick work.

Would love to see CU go on another building binge like they were 10 years ago. Would like to see them restart their march to North Downtown. That would really help that area.

I could see some more dorm construction happening in the next few years. The business college is moving into the fairly new Harper Center:

They want to raise enrollment in that portion of the school from 700 to 1000 over the next couple years. Plus with the general bump expected/happening from the Big East move I am sure the school will get a little bit bigger by the end of the decade.

I would expect some changes on the old Campus before more Eastern expansion past the stadium.

I don't remember which hall, but I had hear about some far out plans for a facelift for one of the old dorm buildings.

It just needs some fixing. I also think they announced what they were going with the old practice facility, maybe faculty offices?

The Opus Group has completed renovations and building additions at Omaha’s Creighton University, creating a new home for the Heider College of Business. Opus remodeled five buildings on the campus and supported moves for more than 12 departments. About one-third of the 220,000-square-foot Harper Center was remodeled to house Creighton’s Heider College of Business. Renovations include a new entryway and lobby. A new classroom with glass walls is visible from the lobby, while a high-tech circular classroom features flat-panel TVs, a digital display stock ticker and the latest stock-trading terminals.

"Creighton’s newest athletics facility, the Championship Center, will be celebrated and opened in mid-June. The building is approximately 42,000 square-feet and will house practice courts that can be used for basketball and volleyball, men’s basketball offices and will service all student-athletes, including strength and conditioning, training rooms and the Academic Learning Center. A formal dedication of the Championship Center will be on June 12 and it will be open to the public June 13."

I remember reading in the paper that even some of the players who just graduated were planning on staying in Omaha this summer to use the facilities. And it sounds like so far that the transfer recruits love what they saw.

I don't exactly know what it is either. I have a schedule because they want me to photograph a few games. I think its like pickup ball with no coaches. There is a schedule with times and all.

So it is going in on the NW corner of 24th & Cuming, leaving the McDonalds, but taking out that strip mall and the Soccer practice field. From the pics it should add a nice presence to the campus, but with only outpatient rooms, it doesn't address the need St Joseph's will leave behind.

That is what I was hoping, but that is a difficult spot to connect to the rest of campus for walkability purposes. Unless there was a huge walking bridge over the interstate.
