Oh the area on the top floor of the new place? I was thinking of the ground floor.

The dining area will be on the fifth floor. It won't be a working cafeteria though. Employees will have the option of eating their lunches either inside or on the outside deck weather permitting. This area will be able to be used for company gatherings and receptions as well. Pacific Life's headquarters in Huntington Beach has an outside deck on the top that is also used for receptions and the like.
My son got a 27 on his ACT. No this score is not as high as what Jeff's son achieved. But one has to remember the paternal gene-pool my son has to overcome. On a PGPAB [Paternal Gene-Pool Adjusted Basis], my son's score is a 37 and Jeff's son's PGPAB ACT score is 19.

Are they expanding their workforce with the move? I noticed a couple signs saying they are hiring around the building.

Not that I am aware of...at least nothing major. If they did, I think this building would already be too small since they currently occupy 4 floors in the Landmark building and will take up at least 3 1/2 in the new building. (floors 2-5)

My department is in the middle of a multi-year hiring plan. But compared to the total Omaha employment for the company, I would agree it would be termed relatively insignificant. But there will be some growth which is obviously good. And of course the disclaimer always has to be in there that economic changes could throw everything out the window.

Parking Garage opened today, but the inside of Pac Life looks like a few weeks away from moving in...

A section on the north half, west side of the garage looks buckled up. It just doesn't look quite right.

South part of the first floor is closed for equipment storage for Pac Life construction.

What I mean is it looks like the structure has buckled in the area I described, like it might have settled weirdly.

I think the whole structure looks buckled in places. It is a strange looking garage structure...

They have their signage at street level up on next to the entrance.

Communicated to PL employees:

Back in August, you heard about legendary Omaha establishment Pauli’s Bar coming to the first floor of the Pacific Life Aksarben building. We are happy to announce an internationally-known franchise will be joining Pauli’s on the first floor. Freshii, a healthy fast-food restaurant will arrive in late spring/early summer of 2016. Freshii is known for their fresh and nutritious menu choices: custom-made green wraps, salads, quinoa bowls and fresh pressed juices.

Currently, property management is in negotiations with a few other tenants to occupy the remaining first floor retail space.

Doubt it will be my cup but I will give it a shot since it will be right downstairs. I do think it has the potential be popular with a lot of the folks in the building.

This has got to be one of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen from a design and architectural standpoint. HBA should be able to do better than this.

They don't exactly encourage their employees to got out to the AK Village restaurants, do they?...unless that is to re-heat doggy bag stuff.

If it's anything like my office, most people will bring some sort of lunch and 30% will go out for lunch, unless it's payday, when those numbers reverse. I think there might be more going out at Pacific Life due to all of the places within walking distance of the office.

Official Ribbon Cutting:

Pacific Life cuts ribbon on regional business center in Aksarben Village
Pacific Life, based in Newport Beach, California, chose Omaha to house its regional office in 2004. The local office now employs 400 and will be adding 40 more, said Chairman and Chief Executive Jim Morris.

“This new space will enable us to continue to grow our operations here in Omaha in the coming years,” he said.

Yes, most employees moved in during October. This was just a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Denim Saloon relocating to Aksarben Village from Dundee this spring
Dundee’s Denim Saloon will move to Aksarben Village in April.

The shop, which sells men’s and women’s apparel, will move to the Pacific Life building, next door to Freshii, said co-owner Jenny Galley.

Galley said the retailer is shooting for an early April opening in the new space. The shop will hold a sale before the move, close for a few days, then open in the new Aksarben spot.
