The fisheye lens sort of threw me off for a minute.

Nice shots Matt!
Btw, were you at the Great Nebraska Brewfest at Werner? There was a drone camera there...

My friend has a deep hatred for the look of Westbrook. I don't mind it but he goes crazy over it .

The design of the building is definitely from another time, that's for sure.

Technically I don't think Drones are allowed anywhere in Downtown Omaha. A 5 mile radius of Eppley covers all of downtown... If you draw a line from the end of Eppley's runway towards downtown, the 5 mile radius extends all the way to the 80/480/JFK junction!Coyote wrote:Nice shots Matt!

Speaking of Werner, the 5 Mile Radius of the Millard Airport covers Werner so there probably should not have been a drone there either.

Here is what 5 miles from the airports look like.

Re: Highline 2.0
It's amazing just how much these comparatively small infill projects change the ambiance of their surroundings. I opine for the next skyscraper as much as the next but in the meantime keep the infill coming.

Agreed, this kind of rapid redevelopment would have been unthinkable 15 years ago. I'm so happy it's happening.
Re: Highline 2.0
$2.65 million in TIF for the project.
Re: Highline 2.0
Happens more than you think.
Re: Highline 2.0
Perhaps they were confident the project would be successful even if they didn't get approved for TIF.
Re: Highline 2.0
That defeats the entire purpose of the financing though.daveoma wrote:Perhaps they were confident the project would be successful even if they didn't get approved for TIF.
Re: Highline 2.0
So they were quite confident they were going to be approved for TIF. So confident that they started construction before they were approved.iamjacobm wrote:That defeats the entire purpose of the financing though.daveoma wrote:Perhaps they were confident the project would be successful even if they didn't get approved for TIF.
Re: Highline 2.0
That is my assumption. I think TIF is pretty much rubber stamped so developers don't really worry about it too much.daveoma wrote:So they were quite confident they were going to be approved for TIF. Maybe they were assured that the TIF would be passed by the city so they could expedite the timeline. I always think it makes the precess not look very genuine though.

Living across the street from here, I cannot agree with this sentiment more.MTO wrote:Greatfull as can be for this one butt I cannot wait to get that lane back it's a pita at times.
Here's an updated (crappy) picuture. All of the windows and doors in the inner courtyard are in and they have begun putting brick on the building:

My guess is that they will wait on the pool until spring. That is what the Corvina is doing as well.MTO wrote:Did you see if they dug a hole for the pool?

Re: Highline 2.0
I think it is mostly done, there might even be people living in there, but when I walked by 2 weeks ago they were still working on some outside stuff and the pool area was just dirt.MTO wrote:So the Corvina still isn't done, comical.

Re: Highline 2.0
If you look just to the right, you can also see the hotel at 24th and Farnam.
Edit: didn't realize you highlighted that building in the Even Hotel thread.

Re: Highline 2.0
Windows and doors have been going in for awhile here. They have a few of the decks up as well, on the inner courtyard area. I'll try to get a picture today when I can. This building looks a little, I don't know, bland and UNO dorm-ish to me, but I suppose it could all come together in the end. As others have mentioned, really nice to have some infill in this area, especially with ground level retail/restaurant/activity.MTO wrote:Windows are going in.

There's ground level commerce in this one?

Re: Highline 2.0
Haven't seen it in person for a while but from the rendering it does look bland, and a lot like the UNO dorms.
Re: Highline 2.0
I must of forgot, that's even better. So is it still getting the pool?iamjacobm wrote:2K SF.

Re: Highline 2.0
Anyone else think its odd that this courtyard opens to the street, and not the alley? Maybe they did this for the southern facing sunlight into the courtyard and balconies, but just seems backwards to me. From an urban planning perspective, flipping the building around would have put height right up at the street side, creating the feeling of density. Plus the courtyard would be much quieter/more private facing inwards...
