Re: Nebraska Medicine
It's interior space to serve the heliport (acess to bring patients in to the elevators, pilot's room, etc). It will get exterior enclosure much like the rest of the clinical structure. It's visible in some of the renderings.MTO wrote:Is that shed on the roof (east side) for microwaves?

Not the best photo, just a quick snap when we were flying by.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
The MMI and JPLord land is critical for patient care expansion as expansion in this direction is the most efficient for expanding in patient towers. The hangup is apparently that JPLord is actually owned by OPS who has no benefit in selling. So more discussions to follow.
Re: Nebraska Medicine
I did overhear someone say it would be relocated near Norris at the expense of the hospital.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
I talked with a MMI Board member a few months ago and she had heard no news about UNMC wanting the building/land.
Re: Nebraska Medicine
Hotel and iEXCEL facility.
Re: Nebraska Medicine
Any words on the timeline for those two?
Pharmacy school seems to be taking forever to finish up and the Cancer center and Outpatient aren't scheduled to be finished until 2017.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
I meant after the two hotels and arcade.. We haven't even seen renders for one of the hotels nor the arcade does that mean they're still way off?

Re: Nebraska Medicine
I imagine they want to get these projects done before the next wave. They are going to need the parking under the outpaitent center when they take out the lots for iEXCEL.
Re: Nebraska Medicine
Parking garage appears to be completed.

Nice perspective.
Re: Nebraska Medicine
Nice, I am guessing that's from the Transplant Tower? The Eurocopter looks so small next to that massive Cancer Center!

Yes, the east and west windows of the transplant tower.
Re: Nebraska Medicine
The iEXCEL facility will be a very similar design to the other new buildings on that side of campus.

Is that going in on the southeast corner of 42nd and Emile?iamjacobm wrote:The iEXCEL facility will be a very similar design to the other new buildings on that side of campus.
Do they have any long-term plans for the lots they own at 42nd and Leavenworth? I haven't seen a new master plan since the one from over 5 years ago.

Yes, it is going on the parking lot on the right side of the photo that nebraska shared a couple posts up.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
Yeah, they tore down a parking garage that I don't think they had planned, so this was just temporary parking till they decided what new toys they wanted.Seth wrote:I remember when they built that lot and had the landscaping done just two years ago.iamjacobm wrote:Yes, it is going on the parking lot on the right side of the photo that nebraska shared a couple posts up.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
Yeah, I remember that, I just found it interesting that they went to the expense of paving a fancy parking lot and putting in landscaping. I guess they don't want a barren gravel parking lot in their campus, even for just a year or two.Coyote wrote:Yeah, they tore down a parking garage that I don't think they had planned, so this was just temporary parking till they decided what new toys they wanted.Seth wrote:I remember when they built that lot and had the landscaping done just two years ago.iamjacobm wrote:Yes, it is going on the parking lot on the right side of the photo that nebraska shared a couple posts up.

Re: Nebraska Medicine
I wonder if they had no idea when or what they were going to do on this land, the parking garage needed to be taken down, so that probabbly accelerated their ability to do some dreaming...Seth wrote: Yeah, I remember that, I just found it interesting that they went to the expense of paving a fancy parking lot and putting in landscaping. I don't mean in any way to disparage the purpose of this new structure, but the overall exterior design leaves me wishing for something nicer, more in line with the two Durham buildings. These new structures look drab in comparison.

I agree that I would like to see some brick, but one thing is for sure with any medical complex, they all have a mismatch of buildings built throughout the years.nativeomahan wrote:I don't mean in any way to disparage the purpose of this new structure, but the overall exterior design leaves me wishing for something nicer, more in line with the two Durham buildings.
