Not huge news, but glad to see that they are replacing the Taco Bell near Lake Manawa. I think that was one of the first restaurants built in the shopping center and they haven't done any upgrades since.
“It’s one of their next prototypes,” said Chris Gibbons, a planner with the city’s Community Development Department.
“It’s a different design architecturally. It’s a new Taco Bell. They’re doing them nationwide.”
The new style will provide 2,700 square feet of restaurant space and will be built just to the north of the current restaurant that’s 2,000 square feet in size.
As part of the new development, a water quality feature will be provided along the west side of the site.”
Just prior to the opening, the existing restaurant will be closed so that at no time will both facilities be operational, Malinowsky said.
Has anyone heard what, if anything, is going into the empty Bank Of The West building? Wsa in the area at noon today and there was a roll off dumpster sitting by the main doors and there were a few vehicles in the lot that looked to be contractor type vehicles but none of them that I saw had any company names on them
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

That is if you call Harbor Freight something. Can't stomach that place.

Didn't want to muddy up the Mall of the Bluffs thread with talk of the old Menard's location, but feel free to move this over if you wish.
With the absence of Menards down there and it being a sizeable lot, I think a fleet farm would do well. It would certainly be a regional draw for those from Neola, Underwood, Harlan, etc.

That would be a great location....does it have enough space though?

Based on the one in Des Moines that is fairly new and the planned area for the one near Gretna that is not enough space. Looking at their web site when the Gretna one was being discussed, they have older stores that are much smaller. N
No idea if they would want to go into a smaller lot and renovate the building but if they were it may be a possibility then,

for what it's worth, the fleet farm store in Waukee is 145k square feet, and the old Menard's is just shy of 170k square feet (the new one is 245k). With Menard's lumber yard in the back, there's a ton of space for them to convert the building to a fleet farm and figure out something else for the lumber yard area
